BULLIONS

  • Bullions counter may witness volatile movement as gold prices edged lower on Thursday, weighed down by an uptick in the dollar as investor looked forward to key U.S. inflation data due later this week for more cues on the interest rate path.
  • Overall Gold (Dec) can move in range of 121000-124000 while silver can move in range of 143000-149000.
  • The U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) report, due on Friday after a delay due to the government shutdown, is expected to show that core inflation held at 3.1% in September.
  • U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he expected to reach a trade agreement with Chinese President Xi Jinping and that he would raise concerns about China’s purchases of Russian oil during their meeting in South Korea next week.

BASE METALS

  • In base metal counter, Copper (Oct) prices can trade on volatile path as it can move in range of 970-995. Angola’s first major copper mine, Tetelo, will soon begin production, Mines Minister Diamantino Azevedo said on Wednesday, part of the oil-rich African country’s efforts to diversify into clean energy minerals.
  • Global copper demand is set to surge 24 per cent by 2035, rising by 8.2 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) to 42.7 Mtpa, according to a new report from Wood Mackenzie.
  • Aluminum prices can trade on mixed path as it may move in range of 261-266.while Zinc may move on upside path as it may trade in range of 300-305.

ENERGY

  • Crude oil may trade with firm path as it can move in range of 5230-5400.Oil prices extended gains after settlement on Wednesday after the U.S. imposed Ukraine-related sanctions on Russia, targeting oil companies.
  • Given President Putin’s refusal to end this senseless war, Treasury is sanctioning Russia’s two largest oil companies that fund the Kremlin’s war machine,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Wednesday. The new sanctions target Lukoil and Rosneft, two of Russia’s largest oil companies.
  • U.S. crude oil, gasoline and distillate inventories fell last week as refining activity and demand strengthened, the Energy Information Administration said on Wednesday.
