Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a Mini Ratna subsidiary of Coal India Limited, is the backbone of India’s metallurgical coal sector. As the nation’s largest producer, it accounted for 58.50% of domestic coking coal production in Fiscal 2025. Strategically located in the Jharia and Raniganj coalfields, the company manages a massive reserve of approximately 7,910 million tonnes, making it a critical supplier to the domestic steel and power industries.

The company has demonstrated strong operational momentum, increasing production by 32.74% since Fiscal 2022 to reach 40.50 million tonnes in Fiscal 2025. By leveraging advanced mining technologies and expanding its coal washery capacity, BCCL focuses on high-grade output to support India’s import substitution goals. Furthermore, the company is diversifying into solar energy and methane extraction, aligning its legacy mining operations with India’s long-term sustainability and net-zero commitments.
