- On Sunday, top Chinese and U.S. economic officials hashed out the framework of a trade deal for U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping to decide on later this week that would pause steeper American tariffs and Chinese rare earths export controls, U.S. officials said.
- Meanwhile, U.S. consumer prices rose 3% in the 12 months through September, data showed on Friday, slightly below economists’ expectations of a 3.1% increase.
BASE METALS
- In base metal counter, Copper (Oct) prices can trade on volatile path as it can move in range of 990-1020. Copper advanced toward an all-time high with the US and China on the cusp of a sweeping deal to dial down trade tensions, easing a major risk to global economic growth.
- Aluminum prices can trade on mixed path as it may move in range of 265-269.while Zinc may move on upside path as it may trade in range of 298-304.
- Aluminum prices have hit three-year highs, crossing ₹266 per kg in India. Meanwhile, zinc prices are trading at multi-month highs internationally and at record levels domestically.
- This price surge isn’t just a speculative bubble but is driven by a mix of supply constraints, strong demand, geopolitical tensions, and policy shifts.
ENERGY
- Crude oil may trade with mixed path as it can move in range of 5380-5540. Oil prices rose in early trade on Monday after U.S. and Chinese economic officials sketched out a trade-deal framework, easing fears that tariffs and export curbs between the world’s top two oil consumers could dent global economic growth.
- U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Sunday top Chinese and U.S. economic officials hashed out a “very substantial framework” for a trade deal in Kuala Lumpur, which would allow President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping to discuss trade cooperation later this week.
- Bessent said the framework would avoid 100% U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods and achieve a deferral of China’s rare-earth export controls.
- Natural gas may remain on stronger path as it can move in range of 290-300.
