Major stock markets across Asia Pacific region sank in early trade on Monday amid mounting fears of a renewed trade war between the world’s two largest economies, after US President Donald Trump threatened to impose new triple-digit tariffs on Chinese imports.

  • The US markets witnessed a bloodbath on Friday, US markets saw $2 trillion getting wiped off, which came on the back of Donald Trump’s threat to China, in which the US President flagged the Asian powerhouse’s attempts to curb exports of rare earth minerals.
  • Declines in Asian stocks, which were closed when Trump made his comments on Friday, indicate concerns about the durability of the truce.
  • Oil prices rose after the Trump administration signaled openness to a deal with China to quell fresh trade tensions between the two biggest crude consumers. Brent advanced above $63 a barrel.

  • Adani Energy Solutions Q2 Update (YoY) Transmission business added 190 CKM in Q2 Distribution loss improved to 4.36% in Q2 System availability at 99.63%
  • Lupin informed that the USFDA has conducted a pre-approval inspection at its manufacturing facility located in Somerset, New Jersey, USA. The inspection, conducted from Sept. 29 to Oct. 10, concluded with one observation.
  • Kotak Mahindra Bank announced the merger of its subsidiaries Sonata Finance and BSS Microfinance.
  • BLS International Services informed that the Ministry of External Affairs has debarred it from participating in future MEA tenders and Indian Mission projects for two years, without affecting existing contracts.
  • Quess Corp received a refund of Rs 42.23 crore, including Rs 38.75 crore as tax refund and Rs 3.49 crore as interest.
  • NHPC started filling the reservoir for the Subansiri project, which is scheduled for commissioning during FY26.
  • NDTV successfully completed its rights issue, raising Rs 396.49 crore with an oversubscription of 1.11 times, increasing its equity share capital from 6.45 crore to 11.28 crore shares.
  • Zen Technologies secured a Rs 37 crore order from the Ministry of Defence for advanced anti-drone systems.
  • Bajaj Finserv’s unlisted insurance subsidiaries reported operational updates. Bajaj General Insurance recorded a gross direct premium of Rs 2,218.77 crore for September 2025 and Rs 11,554.35 crore for April–September 2025.   • Multi Commodity Exchange of India announced that Kavita Ravichandran has resigned as Chief Regulatory Officer effective Dec. 9.
  • Muthoot Finance denied any wrongdoing and clarified that it neither collected nor handled investor funds, and has no commercial or business relationship with Srei Companies.
  • Asian Paints’s arm, Asian White Inc FZE, commenced commercial production at its manufacturing facility in the UAE.

 

Nifty Overview & Outlook

Benchmark Nifty index ended higher at 25285 spot levels after adding 103 points to its previous closing values.

Broader markets performed in line with the benchmark as Mid and Small cap index gained 0.46% & 0.74% respectively.

Majority of sectoral indices, barring Metal and IT, ended in green. Amongst them, PSU Bank and Realty index were at the top of the tally, gained 1.67% each followed by Pharma and Healthcare index that rose over 1% each.

Gift Nifty is indicating a negative open for the benchmark amid fresh round of tariff threat by US President Trump on China. Technically, Nifty index is well placed on multiple chart frames till it is trading above 25000 spot levels on closing basis. We continue to uphold our cautiously bullish stance on domestic markets till it is holding above the said levels.

 

Derivatives Overview & Outlook

On Friday, long buildup was seen in Banknifty futures with increase in open interest by 3.9% along with short covering in Finnifty and Midcapnifty futures that shed around 3% and 1.5% of open interest respectively. On the other hand, no significant change was observed in Nifty futures on open interest front.

Majority of sectoral indices settled on a positive note. Amongst them, Pharma stocks witnessed maximum addition of long positions whereas some short buildup was seen among Metals stocks.

On option front, put writing along with call unwinding was seen at multiple strikes. Maximum positions are at 26000 CE followed by 25500 CE and 25200 PE followed by 25000 PE.

 

Institutional Trading Activity

Last week, FIIs bought stocks worth Rs 3796 Cr in the cash segment, bought index futures worth Rs 1625 Cr and sold stocks futures worth Rs 1133 Cr. DIIs were too net buyers  in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 8391 Cr during the week.
