New F&O rules on Pre-Open and Auction starting today – Daily Market Update 8th Dec 2025

Starting Monday, NSE will conduct pre-open sessions for equity derivatives between 9 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. During this timeframe, traders will be able to conduct call auctions, mirroring the existing pre-market session for the cash segment.

  • US stocks edged higher on Friday but failed to break into record territory, as investors stayed cautious ahead of the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate decision due on Thursday.
  • Asian stocks opened the week on a tentative footing as investors weighed rising tensions between China and Japan, a packed calendar of central bank interest rate decisions.
  • Oil prices were largely steady as traders kept a close watch on ongoing Ukrainian strikes on Russia’s energy infrastructure.

 

Important news updates from the domestic front

  • Biocon approved raising up to Rs 4,500 crore via QIP across tranches and said it will integrate Biocon Biologics to create a unified global biopharmaceutical platform. It will acquire remaining stakes in Biocon Biologics from Serum, Tata Capital and Activ Pine through a swap of 70.28 Biocon shares for every 100 Biocon Biologics shares, and will also purchase Mylan Inc’s residual stake for USD 815 million.
  • Cochin Shipyard secured a significant European order to build advanced electric ‘TRAnsverse’ tugs.
  • UNO Minda executed the termination of its joint venture with its German partner Uno Minda Buehler.
  • MTAR Technologies secured Rs 194 crore in civil nuclear orders forming part of the confirmed Rs 504 crore package for the Kaiga 5 and 6 reactors.
  • Jayaswal Neco approved raising up to Rs 1,800 crore via NCDs.
  • HFCL received an order worth Rs 656 crore for supply of optical fibre cables.
  • ICICI Bank said ICICI Prudential AMC set its IPO price band at Rs 2,061–2,165 per share.
  • Ashoka Buildcon received an additional Rs 447 crore work order from BMC for a flyover project, taking total project cost to Rs 1,574 crore.

Nifty Overview & Outlook

Benchmark Nifty index ended higher at 26186 spot levels after adding 153 points to its previous closing values.

Performance on the broader front was mix. Amongst them, Mid cap index traded in line with the benchmark while small cap ended lower, down 0.57%.

Majority of sectoral indices ended higher. Amongst them, PSU Bank index, Financial Service index ended higher, gained 1.51% & 1% respectively.

Nifty index is trading in a tight range of some 400 odd points. We continue to uphold our buy on dips trading approach as long as it is holding above 25800 spot levels on closing basis. Cross and sustenance above 26320 spot levels will strengthen up the bullish the sentiments. Intraday supports are placed around 26050-25980 spot levels and resistances 26280-26325 spot levels.

 

Derivatives Overview & Outlook

Last Friday, all index futures moved norththward on short covering as Nifty, Banknifty, Finnifty and Midcapnifty futures shed 1.9%, 7.7%, 1.4% and 2.6% of open interest respectively.

Majority of the sectoral indices ended on a positive note. Amongst them Capital Goods, Cement and Infrastructure stocks witnessed maximum addition of short position whereas some short covering was seen in FMCG stocks.

On the option front, put writing was seen at multiple strike implying multiple supports on the lower side. Maximum positions are at 26500 CE followed by 27000 CE and 26000 PE closely followed by 25900 PE. These Option stats suggesting to adopt a buy on dip trading strategy.

 

Institutional Trading Activity

Last week, FIIs sold stocks worth Rs 8769 Cr in the cash segment, bought stocks futures worth Rs 3875 Cr and sold index futures worth Rs 6553 Cr. DIIs were net buyers in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 19785 Cr during last week.
