Nifty Overview & Outlook

Benchmark Nifty index ended lower at 25510 spot levels after a cut of 88 points from its previous closing values after a lackluster trading session.

Broader markets underperformed the benchmark as MiD and Small cap indices were down 0.95% & 1.39% respectively.

Majority of sectoral indices, tracked at NSE, ended in red. Amongst them, Media, Metal, Consumer Durables and Realty index were the worst hit, down in range 1.50% to 2.54%.

Nifty index slipped below 38.20% Fibonacci retracement level of previous up move from 24587 to 26104 and heading towards 50% retracement level placed at 25350 spot levels that coincide with 2 month DEMA and a downward sloping trendline of previous Triangle formation which it broke while rising on Oct 16, 2025. Going forward, we expect it to stabilize around 25350 spot levels. On the flip side, cross and sustenance above 25750 spot levels will provide the needed supports to bulls for the continuation of prevailing up trend.

 

Derivatives Overview & Outlook

Yesterday, Banknifty, Finnifty and Midcapnifty futures added around 6%,15% and 3% of open interest respectively as short buildup, whereas no significant changes were seen in Nifty futures on option front.

All F&O sectors, barring Chemical, settled on a negative note. Amongst them, Capital Goods Infrastructure, Pharma, and Metal stocks witnessed maximum addition of short positions along with some long unwinding among Oil & Gas and Telecom stocks.

On option front, both call and put additions were observed across multiple OTM strikes. The highest open interest is at 26000 CE followed by 25700 CE and 25000 PE. Observing these stats, Nifty may trade with sideways to negative bias.

 

Institutional Trading Activity

Yesterday, FIIs sold stocks worth Rs 3263 Cr in the cash segment, sold index futures worth Rs 513 Cr also sold stocks futures worth Rs 246 Cr. DIIs were net buyers in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 5284 Cr.
