Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday expressed hope that India will conclude the proposed bilateral trade agreement with the US by the fall or November this year.
He said that ‘a little bit’ of geopolitical issues overtook the trade matters in the negotiations for the pact between the two countries.

  • Adani Power has received approval from the Ministry of Coal to begin operations at its Dhirauli Mine in Madhya Pradesh. This is Adani Power’s first captive mine to receive government approval to start operations, with a peak production capacity of 6.5 MTPA.
  • TCS partnered with Tryg on a €550 million deal to propel growth with a comprehensive digital transformation over the next seven years.
  • UPL’s arm will purchase the Decco Post-Harvest business for an enterprise valuation of $502 million (Rs 4,420 crore).
  • SBI has issued a $500 million senior unsecured fixed-rate bond with a five-year maturity and a 4.50% semi-annual coupon. The bonds, issued through the bank’s London branch, will be listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange and the NSE-IX Exchange.
  • Adani Energy Solutions’s arm has cancelled $44.66 million in outstanding debt by repurchasing its 2031 senior notes, a move funded by internal cash flows and incorporated a new wholly owned subsidiary named Adani Energy Solutions Step-Fifteen.
  • Vedanta: The $100 million loan taken by Vedanta Resources Ltd. from Canara Bank has been fully repaid, leading to the release of encumbrances on company’s shares.
  • YES Bank: CCI approves acquisition of certain share capital and voting rights of the Bank by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation.
  • AstraZeneca has surrendered its manufacturing license, which was valid until December 2027, to the Drugs Controller and Licensing Authority for cancellation.
  • NDTV: The Board has approved a rights issue of fully paid-up equity shares, valued at up to Rs 400 crore.
  • BHEL has received a favourable order from the Commissioner CGST, which dropped a previous demand of over Rs 31 crore and has announced the dissolution of its joint venture company with Siemens AG Germany, following an order from the National Company Law Tribunal.
  • Aditya Birla Capital has allotted secured listed NCDs worth Rs 100 crore on a private placement basis.

Nifty Overview & Outlook

Benchmark Nifty index started the day on a positive note but failed to hold at higher levels and finally settled at 24580 spot levels, down 45 points from its previous closing values.

Broader markets outperformed the benchmark as Mid and Small cap indices ended on a positive note.

Performance on the sectoral front was mix. Amongst them, FMCG, Media, Metal, Oil & Gas and Realty index gained in range 0.7% to 1.12%. On the flip side, index heavyweight Banking and Finance pack was down over Half-a-percent each.

Going ahead, we reiterate our sell on rise trading approach on Nifty index till it is trading below 24850 spot levels on closing basis. Intraday supports are placed around 24500-24420 spot levels and resistance are in range 24700-24750 spot levels.

 

Derivatives Overview & Outlook

Yesterday, Banknifty futures added around 4% of open interest as short buildup along with some long unwinding in Finnifty futures that shed around 1% of open interest while no significant changes was seen among Nifty and Midcapnifty futures on open interest front.

On options front, Nifty will start the new weekly contract with maximum positions at 24500 PE and 25000 CE.

 

Institutional Trading Activity

Yesterday, FIIs sold stocks worth Rs 1171 Cr in the cash segment, sold index futures worth Rs 1473 Cr also sold stocks futures worth Rs 688 Cr. DIIs were net buyers in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 2433 Cr.
