  • Tata Chemicals Q2 Earnings (YoY, Consolidated) revenue down 3.1% to Rs 3,877 crore versus Rs 3,999 crore. Ebitda down 13.1% to Rs 537 crore versus Rs 618 crore. Margin at 13.9% versus 15.5%. Net Profit down 60.3% to Rs 77 crore versus Rs 194 crore. Board approves raising up to Rs 1,500 crore via NCD.

  • COAL India: The government has entrusted additional charge of Chairman-cum-MD to Sanoj Kumar Jha for three months following PM Prasad’s superannuation. Jha currently serves as Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Coal.
  • Mahindra & Mahindra will launch a new 7-seater electric SUV, the XEV 9S, on Nov. 27.
  • Gujarat Gas announced that Pankaj Joshi has resigned from the post of Director & Chairman upon superannuation from services of the Gujarat Government.
  • ICICI Bank: The RBI has approved granting voting rights on deposited securities to registered holders of American Depository Shares.
  • Adani Enterprises has divested a 50% stake in Kutch Copper Tubes to MetTube Mauritius, following which KCTL ceases to be its subsidiary. It has also completed the acquisition of a 50% stake in MetTube Copper India.
  • City Union Bank has received a commitment of USD 50 million from the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) to support MSMEs in transitioning to energy-efficient solutions.

 

Nifty Overview & Outlook

Benchmark Nifty index ended lower at 25722 spot levels after a cut of another 156 points from its previous closing values.

Broader markets slightly outperformed the benchmark as Mid and Small cap indices ended on a flat to negative note.

All PSU Bank index, barring PSU Banks and Oil & Gas index, settled on a negative note. Amongst them, Media and Metal index were down over 1% each, on the flip side, PSU Bank index rose 1.56%.

Nifty index has reached the lower price band of past 9 days congestion zone (25700-26100 spot levels). Going ahead, cross and sustenance below 25700 spot levels might take it towards 25400 spot levels in near term. Overall chart structure is positive till it is trading above 25350 spot levels closing basis.

 

Derivatives Overview & Outlook

Last Friday, Nifty and Finnifty futures moved southward on short buildup as it added 7.3% and 2.8% of open interest respectively, whereas no notable changes were observed among Banknifty and Midcapnifty future on price as well as open interest front.

All of the sectoral indices, barring PSU Banks and Oil & Gas, ended lower. Amongst them, Chemical, Finance, Power and Technology stocks witnessed maximum addition of short position, whereas some long buildup was seen in Banking Stocks.

On the option front, call writing was seen at multiple strikes, indicating resistance at higher levels. The Maximum open interest is at 27000 CE followed by 26000 CE. On the put side, the maximum positions are at 25000 PE. The options data continues to reflect negative sentiments but it is in short term oversold zone as PCR for the current week has reached 0.5.

 

Institutional Trading Activity

Last week, FIIs sold stocks worth Rs 55 Cr in the cash segment, sold index futures worth Rs 8835 Cr and bought stocks futures worth Rs 2154 Cr. DIIs were net buyers in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 18804 Cr during this week.
