In a separate update, the board hiked its buyback price from Rs 1,150 to Rs 1,260 per share while reducing the total buyback shares from 96 lakh to 87 lakh.
  • Coal India- The government will exercise the oversubscription (greenshoe) option of 1% (6.2 crore shares) in its ongoing OFS, taking the total offer size to 2% (12.3 crore shares). Retail investors, who can subscribe to 10% of the total offer, can place bids starting May 29.
  • Patanjali Foods received a show-cause notice from the Chennai Tax Body regarding a tax and penalty demand worth Rs 1,353 crore due to alleged anomalies in GST returns. The company plans to file an appropriate response and does not expect any financial liability.
  • Reliance Industries: Set to hold its 49th AGM on June 19 and fixed June 5 as the record date for determining the FY26 dividend.
  • GAIL- The government assigned CMD Deepak Gupta the additional charge of Director (Projects).
  • Maruti Suzuki- The ongoing CCI case has been adjourned again, this time to May 30.
  • NTPC Green Energy: declared Commercial Operations on the final 105 MW capacity of its 1,200 MW solar project in Gujarat.
  • Paytm- Following the Supreme Court upholding a 28% GST on online gaming, Paytm clarified there is no impact regarding its First Games GST matter. The First Games gaming business was discontinued in August 2025, and its investment carrying value is already nil. A GST SCN of Rs 5,712 crore is still pending adjudication.
  • TCS  has partnered with Mistral to build custom AI models. The company will also set up a Centre of Excellence with Mistral to drive AI innovation.
  • Lupin has shared Phase 1 data for its LNP8701 inhibitor, highlighting its emerging potential to limit tumor growth. The study indicates LNP8701 is safe and well‑tolerated, with the company planning to continue efficacy studies in India.
  • Eicher Motors  has launched the Royal Enfield Bullet 650 (650cc motorcycle) in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 3.6 lakh. The new Bullet will be available in Black and Blue shades, with retail availability.
  • Persistent Systems’s arm has acquired a part of Concise Systems’ business.
  • Infosys extends AI, Digital Innovation Partnership With Roland-Garros till 2031.
  • Zydus Lifesciences arm has received US FDA priority review for its Saroglitazar New Drug Application (NDA). Saroglitazar is being developed for the treatment of Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC) in adult patients.

 

Nifty Overview & Outlook

The benchmark Nifty index ended on a flat note at 23907 spot levels after a cut of just 6 points from its previous closing values.

Broader markets outperformed the benchmark as Mid and Small cap indices ended on a flat to positive note.

Performance on the sectoral front was mix. Amongst them, Nifty Media was at the top of the tally, rose over 3% followed by Metal and Auto index that gained 1.67% & 1.45% respectively. On the other hand, index heavyweight Banking and Finance pack were at the bottom of the tally, down around 0.5% each.

Nifty index showing signs of further consolidation with immediate resistance around 24200 spot levels. Immediate supports on the down side is placed around 23800 spot levels. A sustained trading below 23800 spot could drag it towards 23600 and lower levels in immediate near term. Hence, we suggest traders to maintain stocks- and sector-specific trading approach.

 

Derivatives Overview & Outlook

On Wednesday, Banknifty and Finnifty futures added 3% and 38% of open interest respectively as short buildup while no significant change was observed in Midcpnifty futures on price as well as on open interest front. On the other hand, Nifty futures added around 3%  of open interest without any significant change in the price.

Majority of F&O sectors settled on a positive note. Amongst them, Automobile, Metal and Telecom stocks witnessed maximum addition of long position whereas some short buildup was seen among Finance, Oil & Gas and Technology stocks.

On options front, both put writing along with some call addition was seen at multiple OTM strikes. Maximum positions are at 25000 CE followed by 24000 CE and 23000 PE followed by 23200 PE.

 

Institutional Trading Activity

On Wednesday, FIIs sold stocks worth Rs 1043 Cr in the cash segment, sold index futures worth Rs 1592 Cr and also sold stocks future worth Rs 704 Cr. DIIs were net buyers to the tune of Rs 3821Cr in the cash segment.
