The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the ‘Capacity Building and Human Resource Development’ scheme with a total outlay of Rs 2,277 crore for the period of the 15th Finance Commission Cycle 2021-22 to 2025-26.
The initiative is intended to give a platform for researchers aspiring to build careers in universities, industry, national research and development laboratories, and academic institutions.

Global Stock Market Today
- US equity markets settled on a flat to negative note.
- European equity markets, barring CAC, ended in green.
- Asian equity markets are trading mix.
- GIFT Nifty is down by 50 points, Nifty futures likely to open around 25070 levels.
Benchmark Nifty index ended lower for the fourth consecutive trading sessions, settled at 25057 spot levels, down 112 points from its previous closing values.
Broader markets fell in line with the benchmark, down in range 0.67% to over 1%.
All sectoral indices, barring FMCG, ended in red. Amongst them, Realty index was the worst hit, fell 2.49% followed by AUTO and Pvt Bank index that fell 1.15% & 0.86% respectively.
Technically, Nifty index is trading around the price and psychological support of 25000 spot levels. Going ahead, possibility of recovery or continuation of its prevailing uptrend can not be ruled out at this juncture till it is holding above the said levels on closing basis. However, a close below 25000 spot levels might take it down towards 24750 spot levels.
Derivatives Overview & Outlook
Yesterday, Nifty and Midcapnifty futures added 4% and 2.5% of open interest respectively as short buildup along with some long unwinding was seen among Banknifty and Finnifty futures that shed around 5% and 3.5% of open interest respectively.
All F&O sectors, barring FMCG, settled on a lower note. Amongst them, Automobile, Cement, Infrastructure and Technology stocks witnessed maximum addition of short positions along with some long unwinding Chemical stocks.
On options front, call writing along with some put addition was seen at multiple strikes. Maximum positions are at 25000 PE followed by 24000 PE and 26000 CE followed by 25500 CE. Options data showing slightly negative sentiments and suggest towards sell on rise trading approach.
Institutional Trading Activity
Yesterday, FIIs sold stocks worth Rs 2426 Cr in the cash segment, sold index futures worth Rs 598 Cr and also sold stocks futures worth Rs 473 Cr. DIIs were net buyers in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 1212 Cr.
