India and the UK signed the CETA Free Trade Agreement, offering duty-free access to 99% of Indian exports worth around USD 23 billion. Key beneficiaries include agriculture, marine, leather, textiles, engineering, electronics, pharma, chemicals, gems, and jewellery. The deal also boosts services like IT and professional mobility, exempts social security for Indian workers, and supports innovation and certification standards.

Global Stock Market Today
- US equity markets, barring DOW, ended on a positive note.
- European equity markets settled on a mix note.
- Majority of Asian equity markets are trading in red.
- GIFT Nifty is down by 125 points, Nifty futures likely to open around 24970 levels.
Benchmark Nifty index ended lower at 25062 spot levels after a cut of 158 points from its previous closing values.
Broader markets fell in line with the benchmark as Mid and Small cap indices were down 0.58% & 1.09% respectively.
Performance on the sectoral front was mix. Nifty IT, FMCG and Realty index were the worst performers, down in range 1% to 2.21%. On the flip side, PSU Banks, Pharma and Health care index were the top performers, rose in range 0.5% to 1.24%.
Technically, Nifty index continuing its prevailing short term down trend after facing resistance around 25260 spot levels as discussed in our previous posts. Going ahead, Cross and sustenance below 24850 spot levels on closing basis will be a negative development that might take it towards 24400 spot levels in near term.
Derivatives Overview & Outlook
Yesterday, all F&O indices witnessed a selling pressure and settled on a negative note. Amongst them, short buildup was seen in Nifty futures with increase in open interest by 3% along with some long unwinding in Banknifty and Finnifty futures that shed around 3.5% and 2% of open interest respectively, on the other hand no significant change was observe in Midcapnifty futures on open interest front.
Majority of F&O sectors settled in red. Amongst them, Capital Goods and Technology stocks witnessed maximum addition of short positions along with some long unwinding in Cement and Chemical stocks.
On options front, Call writing was seen at multiple strikes. Maximum positions are at 26000 CE followed by 25500 CE and 24000 & 25000 PE.
Institutional Trading Activity
Yesterday, FIIs sold stocks worth Rs 2134 Cr in the cash segment, bought index futures worth Rs 2 Cr and sold stocks futures worth Rs 948 Cr. DIIs were net buyers in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 2617 Cr.
