  • HCLTech (Q4, Cons QoQ) Revenue up 0.3% at Rs 33,981 crore versus Rs 33,872 crore. Ebit down10.6% at Rs 5,620 crore versus Rs 6,285 crore. Ebit margin down 210 bps at 16.5% versus 18.6%. Net profit up 10.1% at Rs 4,488 crore versus Rs 4,076 crore.

  • Persistent Systems (Q4, Cons) Revenue up 7.4% at Rs 4,056 crore versus Rs 3,778 crore QoQ. Ebit up 4.2% at Rs 659 crore versus Rs 632 crore QoQ. Ebit margin down 40 bps at 16.3% versus 16.7% QoQ. Net profit up 20.4% at Rs 529 crore versus Rs 439 crore QoQ.

Nifty Overview & Outlook

The benchmark Nifty index ended higher at 24576 spot levels after adding 212 points to its previous closing values.

The broader markets moved in line with the benchmark as Mid and Small cap indices gained 0.49% & 0.88% respectively.

The majority of sectoral indices, tracked at NSE, ended in green. Amongst them, FMCG and Realty index were at the top of the tally, gained 2.55% & 2.14% respectively followed by Private Bank index that rose 1.5%.

Technically, the Nifty index has decisively breached the 24400 spot levels. Going forward, we expect it to test up to 24700-24800 spot levels in the near term. We also suggest traders to adopt a buy on dips trading approach as long as it is trading above 24200-24100 spot zone on closing basis. Conversely, a fall below 24200-24100 spot zone might drag it towards 23800-23550 spot levels in the near term.

 

Derivatives Overview & Outlook

Yesterday, Finnifty and Midcapnifty futures added around 2% and 6% of open interest respectively as long buildup along with some short covering among Nifty and Banknifty futures as both shed 1.4% and 1.1% of open interest respectively.

All F&O sectors, barring Chemical, settled on a positive note. Amongst them, Capital Goods, Infra, New-Age and FMCG stocks witnessed maximum addition of long positions.

On option front, Nifty will start the last weekly contracts of the April series with maximum position at 26000 CE followed by 25000 CE and 23000 PE followed by 24000 CE.

 

Institutional Trading Activity

Yesterday, FIIs sold stocks worth Rs 1919 Cr in the cash segment, bought index futures worth Rs 2565 Cr also bought stocks futures worth Rs 1557 Cr. DIIs were net buyers in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 2221 Cr.
