Nifty Overview & Outlook

Benchmark Nifty index ended on a flat note at 24611 spot levels after a lackluster trading session.

Broader markets performed in line with the benchmark as both, Mid and Small cap, ended on a flat note.

Majority of sectoral indices, tracked at NSE, settled with marginal changes. PSU Bank and Metal index registered some meaningful gains, rose 1.84% & 1.16% respectively. On the other hand, Realty and Consumer Durables were the top losers, down 0.82% & 0.87% respectively.

RBI monetary policy committee outcome on interest rate will set the tone for the rest of the day. Technically, Nifty index is hovering around its trendline support of 24600 spot levels. Possibility of some bounce-back can not be ruled out at this juncture, however, chances of any sustainable up move are less likely until it crosses above 25000 spot levels on closing basis. Cross and sustenance below 24600 spot levels will instigate the selling pressure and might drag it towards 24300 spot levels in immediate near term.
