Oil prices steady with market waiting for OPEC+ supply decision- Daily Market Update 1st July 2025

Oil steadied near the lowest level since early June with the focus on how much OPEC+ will increase output quotas this weekend. Brent crude traded below $67 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate was near $65.

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies are expected to agree to a fourth monthly major supply increase at a meeting on Sunday, according to a Bloomberg survey, as leader Saudi Arabia continues its bid to reclaim market share.

  • L&T’s subsidiary L&T Energy Green Tech has incorporated a wholly owned arm, Panipat Green Hydrogen.

  • Hindustan Copper signed MoU with Coal India to identify and evaluate opportunities in copper and critical minerals. Will explore partnerships with global companies in these sectors.
  • CG Power launched a QIP to raise up to Rs 3,000 crore at an indicative price of Rs 660 per share — a 3.25% discount to its previous closing. The issue will lead to a 2.89% dilution of post-issue equity. Opens June 30, closes July 1.
  • Bharat Electronics secured additional orders worth Rs 528 crore, including radars, EVMs, jammers, shelters, and control centres.
  • NCC received orders worth Rs 1,691 crore in June under the building division from state agencies and a private company.
  • Hindustan Zinc contributed Rs 90,000 crore to the exchequer over five years, including Rs 18,963 crore in financial year 2025.
  • Hudco achieved loan sanctions of Rs 33,904 crore and disbursements of Rs 12,812 crore in the first quarter.

Nifty Overview & Outlook

Benchmark Nifty index settled on a slightly negative note at 25517 spot levels after a cut of 121 points from its previous closing values.

Broader markets outperformed the benchmark as Mid and Small cap indices rose just over 0.5% each against a negative close for the benchmark.

Performance on the sectoral front was mix. Amongst them, PSU Bank index led the bulls, rose 2.66%. On the other hand, Auto, Private Bank and Realty index were the top losers fell in range 0.5% to 1%.

Nifty index took a pause from its ongoing winning streak. Going ahead, we maintain our buy on dips trading approach till we are holding above 25200 spot levels on closing basis.

 

Derivatives Overview & Outlook

Yesterday, Finnifty futures added 7% of open interest as short buildup along with some long unwinding in Nifty futures that shed around 2% of open interest while Midcapnifty futures added 4% of open interest as long buildup, and no meaningful activity was seen in Banknifty futures on open interest as well as on price front.

On sectoral front, Auto, Metal and FMCG stocks witnessed maximum addition of short positions and some long buildup was seen among Chemical, Technology and Power stocks.

On options front, call writing along with put unwinding was seen at multiple strikes. Maximum positions are at 25000 PE followed by 25500 PE and  26500 CE followed by 26000 CE.

 

Institutional Trading Activity

Yesterday, FIIs sold stocks worth Rs 831 Cr in the cash segment, sold stocks futures worth Rs 3491 Cr also sold index futures worth Rs 903 Cr. DIIs were net buyers in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 3497 Cr.
