The first tranche of the India-United States bilateral trade deal is near closure, government sources told NDTV Profit on Monday. “The trade deal has two parts, one part will take its own time, other part is the first tranche which can address all kinds of tariffs. We remain engaged, the discussions are on and part of agreement that covers reciprocal tariffs should happen sooner rather than later.

Important news updates from the domestic front

  • JSW Infra will acquire a 51% stake in an Oman Port SPV, which will build and operate a port with a capex of $419 million.
  • Mphasis promoter Blackstone Inc. will offer up to 9.5% equity via large deals. BCP Topco IX Pte will sell up to 1.8 crore shares at Rs 2,570 each, a discount of about 4.4% to the last closing price of Rs 2,688.7. The total deal size at the floor price amounts to nearly Rs 4,626 crore.
  • Paytm Elevation Capital is looking to sell shares worth Rs 1,640 crore in One97 Communications via block deals. The firm will offer nearly 1.28 crore shares, or 2% equity, at Rs 1,281 apiece, at approximately 4% discount to Monday’s closing price.
  • AstraZeneca Pharma has signed a pact with Sun Pharma to distribute and market Sodium Zirconium Cyclosilicate in India; the drug is used to treat Hyperkalaemia.
  • PTC Industries has commenced a major expansion of its investment casting facility in Gujarat.
  • DCX Systems and its arm Raneal Advanced Systems have secured international orders worth Rs 22.9 crore.

Nifty Overview & Outlook

Benchmark Nifty index ended higher above 26000 spot levels after adding 100 odd points to its previous closing values.

Broader markets traded in line with the benchmark as Mid and Small cap indices were up just over 0.5% each.

All sectoral indices, tracked at NSE, ended in green. Amongst them, PSU bank was the top gainer, rose over 1% closely followed by Auto, Consumer Durables and Pvt Bank index that gained 0.85%, 0.83% and 0.79% respectively.

Technically, Nifty index has almost reached the price resistance of 26050-26100 spot levels. Current chart structure and options data, both are well placed. Cross and sustenance above 26100 spot level will be a positive development that might take it up to 26300-26500 spot levels in near term.

 

Derivatives Overview & Outlook

Yesterday, long buildup was seen in Banknifty futures with an increase in open interest by 4.8% along with some Short covering among Finnifty and Midcapnifty as both shed around 3% and 1% of open interest respectively. On the other hand, no significant changes was seen in Nifty on open interest front.

All F&O sectors, barring Cement and Metal settled higher. Amongst them, Capital Goods, Finance, Infrastructure and Pharma shares witnessed maximum addition of long positions whereas some short covering was seen among Oil & Gas and Realty stocks.

On the option front, put addition along with call unwinding was seen at multiple strikes. Maximum positions are at 26000 CE followed by 26500 CE and 25900 PE closely followed by 25800 PE. Options data turned slightly positive ahead of scheduled weekly expiry but needs to observe fresh developments during the day.

Institutional Trading Activity

Yesterday, FIIs bought stocks worth Rs 442 Cr in the cash segment, bought index futures worth Rs 73 Cr and sold stocks futures worth Rs 925 Cr. DIIs were too net buyers  in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 1466 Cr.
