Nifty Overview & Outlook

Benchmark Nifty index ended higher at 25585 spot levels after adding 262 points to its previous closing values.

Broader markets underperformed the benchmark as Mid and Small cap indices ended marginally higher after adding 0.46% & 0.24% respectively.

All sectoral indices, barring PSU Bank index, settled higher. Amongst them, FMCG, Realty, Consumer Durables and Private Bank index gained in range 1.48% to over 2%.

Nifty index have almost rose to the immediate price resistance of 25675 spot levels following a breakout from its Four days long congestion zone as mentioned in our previous post. At current juncture, It is well placed on multiple chart frames. Going ahead, we continue to uphold our buy on trading approach till it is holding above 25180 spot levels on closing basis.

 

Derivatives Overview & Outlook

Yesterday, Banknifty, Finnifty and Midcapnifty futures added 1.8%, 2% and 3.6% of open interest respectively as long buildup while no significant change was seen in Nifty futures on open interest front.

All F&O sectors, barring Finance and Power, settled higher. Amongst them, Capital Goods and Technology stocks witnessed some addition of long positions along with some short covering among Realty and FMCG stocks.

On option front, put writing was seen at multiple strikes with maximum positions are at 24500 PE followed by 25300 PE along with some call addition at out the money strikes. Maximum positions are at 26000 CE followed by 25800 CE.

 

Institutional Trading Activity

Yesterday, FIIs bought stocks worth Rs 997 Cr in the cash segment, bought index futures worth Rs 5067 Cr also bought stocks futures worth Rs 463 Cr. DIIs too were net buyers in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 4076 Cr.
