Nifty Overview & Outlook

The benchmark Nifty index opened with a gap on the higher side, settled at 23989 spot levels after adding 135 points to its previous closing values in an otherwise lackluster trading session.

The broader markets traded in line with the benchmark as Mid and Small cap indices gained around 0.5% each.

The majority of sectoral indices, tracked at NSE, ended in green. Among them, Nifty Realty index was the best performer, gained 2.26% followed by IT, Media, FMCG, Consumer Durables and Oil & Gas index that rose 1% to 1.78%. On the other hand, Metal index was the worst performer, down 1.55%.

Technically, Nifty index is trading in a narrow congestion range of 200 points i.e. 23800-24000 spot levels. A decisive close above 24050 spot levels could lead it towards 24400 spot levels in near term. Conversely, sustained trading below 23800 spot levels could drag it towards 23600-23500 spot levels. Hence, we suggest traders to maintain stocks specific trading approach as long as the index remains in 23800-24000 spot levels.
