  • Majority of Asian equity markets are trading higher at the open after US equities closed higher in a volatile session as investors weighed renewed US-China trade tensions.
  • The S&P 500 ended higher on Wednesday, with Morgan Stanley and Bank of America rallying after solid quarterly results, while investors remained focused on the recent increase in China-U.S. trade tensions.
  • Oil prices rebounded from a five-month low after US President Donald Trump claimed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had pledged to stop buying Russian crude — a move that could tighten global supply. Brent crude climbed above $62 a barrel.

  • Hero MotoCorp has entered the Spanish market through a partnership with Noria Motos (ONEX Group), marking its presence in 50 international markets.
  • TVS Motor has launched the TVS Apache RTX at an introductory price of Rs 1.99 lakh.
  • Bharat Electronics has received additional orders worth Rs 592 crore since its last disclosure on September 29.

 

Nifty Overview & Outlook

Benchmark Nifty index ended higher at 25324 spot levels, up 178 points from its previous closing values.

Broader markets traded in line with the benchmark as Mid and Small cap indices rose 1.11% & 0.82% respectively.

All sectoral indices, barring Media, ended in green. Amongst them, Nifty Realty was the best performer, gained over 3% followed by PSU Banks and Metal index that rose 1.67% & 1% respectively.

Technically, Nifty index is consolidating in a range around the upper band of the Triangle pattern. A decisive cross and sustenance above 25380-25450 spot zone on closing basis will instigate the bullish momentum that might take it towards 25675 and higher levels in near term.

 

Derivatives Overview & Outlook

Yesterday, Nifty and Banknifty futures added around 3% and 2.5% of open interest respectively as long buildup along with some short covering in Finnifty futures with decrease in open interest by 5.9%, whereas no meaningful activity was seen in Midcapnifty futures on open interest front.

All F&O sectors settled on a higher note. Amongst them, long buildup was seen among Auto, Finance and Technology stocks.

On the option front, put writing dominated along with some call writing across different strikes. The maximum call positions at 26000 CE followed by 25500 CE. On the put side, the maximum positions are at 25300 PE closely followed by 25200 PE.

 

Institutional Trading Activity

Yesterday, FIIs bought stocks worth Rs 69 Cr in the cash segment, bought stocks futures worth Rs 1434 Cr also bought index futures worth Rs 1008 Cr. DIIs were too net buyers in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 4650 Cr.
