The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved schemes worth Rs 45,000 crore to support exporters amid the ongoing global headwinds. This comprises the much-awaited Rs 25,000-crore Export Promotion Mission, wherein the government will give priority to sectors like leather, gem and jewellery and leather. Additionally, the Cabinet has also approved the expansion of Credit Guarantee Scheme for Exporters, with an overall outlay of Rs 20,000 crore.

Nifty Overview & Outlook

Benchmark Nifty index opened with a gap on the higher side and kept the bullish momentum rolling till the end to settle at 25876 spot levels after adding 181 points to its previous closing values.

Broader markets traded in line with the benchmark as Mid and Small cap index gained 0.79% & 0.82% respectively.

All sectoral indices, barring Metal and Realty, ended in green. Amongst them, IT index was at the top of the tally, rose over 2% followed by Auto, Pharma and Consumer Durables index that rose around 1% each.

Technically, Nifty index is well placed on multiple time frames above its long term as well as short term moving averages. Going ahead, we uphold our bullish view on Nifty index intact and expect it to test 26100 spot levels in near term. Cross and sustenance above 26100 spot levels will further strengthen up the bullish sentiments. Hence, we suggest traders to maintain buy on dips trading approach till it is holding above 25450-25300 spot zone on closing basis.

 

Derivatives Overview & Outlook

Yesterday, Finnifty and Midcapnifty futures added 2.5% and 62.8% of open interest respectively as long buildup along with some short covering in Nifty and Banknifty with decrease in open interest by 3.2 and 2.8% respectively.

Majority of sectoral indices settled on a positive note. Amongst them, Automobile, Capital Goods, Finance and Pharma stocks witnessed maximum addition of long positions along with short covering among Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, Technology and Telecom stocks. On the other hand, Chemical and Realty stocks witnessed some short buildup.

On option front, both call and put addition was seen at multiple OTM strikes. Maximum positions are at 26000 CE and 25800 PE. Option data is positively biased and indicating towards buy on dips trading approach.

 

Institutional Trading Activity

Yesterday, FIIs sold stocks worth Rs 1750 Cr in the cash segment, sold index futures worth Rs 476 Cr and bought stocks futures worth Rs 3835 Cr. DIIs were net buyers in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 5127 Cr.
