The yield on the 10–year US Treasury note jumped 14 basis points to 4.44% on Tuesday as traders expects policies under Donald Trump are going to cause further increase in US debt levels. Market participants also expect that inflation will rise under Trump's presidency, which may also impact the safe–haven asset

  • Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals Q2 FY25 (Consolidated, YoY) Revenue down 15.52% at Rs 2,635 crore versus Rs 3,119 crore. Ebitda up 19.32% at Rs 284 crore versus Rs 238 crore. Ebitda margin up 314 bps at 10.77% versus 7.63%. Net profit down 3.55% at Rs 298 crore versus Rs 309 crore.
  • Shree Renuka: NCLT approved the merger of its arms, Monica Trading, Shree Renuka Agri and Shree Renuka Tunaport, with the company.
  • Aurobindo Pharma arm received a GMP certificate from the European Medicines Agency for Biosimilars Manufacturing unit in Hyderabad.
  • Varun Beverages acquired SBC Tanzania for approximately Rs 1,304 crore and SBC Beverages Ghana for Rs 127 crore. The company also acquired the remaining 39.93% stake in Lunarmech Tech for Rs 200 crore.
  • PNB Housing: Carlyle Group plans to sell shares for up to $273 million in block trade at a floor price of Rs 939.3 apiece through its arm, Quality Investment Holdings Pcc.
  • SBI Life approved the appointment of CS Setty as Chairman and Nominee Director effective today.
  • UltraTech Cement will raise funds up to Rs 3,000 crore via bonds on a private placement basis on Nov 15.
  • BSE Q2 FY25 (Consolidated, QoQ) Revenue up 22.69% at Rs 746 crore versus Rs 608 crore. Ebitda up 36.97% at Rs 389 crore versus Rs 284 crore. Ebitda margin up 543 bps at 52.14% versus 46.71%. Net profit up 31.06% at Rs 346 crore versus Rs 264 crore.

 

Nifty Overview & Outlook

Benchmark Nifty index settled lower at 23883 levels after a cut of 258 points from its previous closing values.

Broader market performed in line with the benchmark as both Mid and Small-cap index fell more than 1%.

All sectoral indices, barring Realty and IT, settled in red. Amongst them, Auto and PSU Bank index led the declines, fell nearly 2% each followed by Fin Services, Banknifty and FMCG index that fell more than 1% each.

Technically, Nifty index is trading on verge of break down from the congestion zone of 23800-24500 levels. Cross and sustenance below 23800 will be a negative development that might take it toward 23400 levels in immediate near term.

 

Derivatives Overview & Outlook

Yesterday, short buildup was seen in Nifty, Banknifty and Finnifty futures with an increase in open interest by 3.6%, 15.2% and 22.7 respectively while no meaningful activities was seen in Midcapnifty futures on open interest front.

All of the sectoral indices, barring Cement, settled lower. Amongst them, Banking, Capital Goods, FMCG and Power stocks witnessed maximum additions of short positions, whereas some long unwinding was seen among Pharma, Realty and Technology and stocks.

On option front, aggressive call writing was seen at multiple strikes and maximum positions are at 24500 CE and 22250 PE followed by 23000 PE.

 

Institutional Trading Activity

Yesterday, FIIs sold stocks worth Rs 3024 Cr in the cash segment, sold stocks futures and index future worth Rs 3535 Cr and Rs 734 Cr respectively. DIIs were net buyers in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 1854 Cr.
