Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed expanding co-operation in trade, critical technologies, energy, defence and security in a phone call with US President Donald Trump on Thursday. “Had a very warm and engaging conversation with President Trump.   • Tata Power has received an annual order worth Rs 156 crore per year for 35 years to commission a 400 KV transmission line as they have secured a Letter of Intent (LoI) from REC’s arm to commission a transmission line from Jejuri to Hinjewadi.
  • Vedanta has emerged as the successful bidder for the Genjana block containing nickel, chromium, and PGE (Platinum Group Elements).
  • NBCC has received orders worth Rs 289 crore, including an order from SAIL Bokaro for desilting of the cooling pond and another order for civil, construction, and repair works at NALCO’s office and township.
  • InterGlobe Aviation The DGCA has asked CEO Pieter Elbers to appear before its officers committee on December 12 also Petitioners Akhil Rana and Utkarsh Sharma have filed a writ petition before the Delhi High Court against the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
  • Suzlon Energy The Mumbai tax authority has reduced the company’s tax demand from Rs 21.9 crore to nil.
  • Hitachi Receives tax demand of nearly Rs 10 crore, including penalty, from Lucknow tax authority.
  • Piramal Pharma The US FDA conducted a general Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) inspection of Piramal Pharma’s Lexington (Kentucky, USA) facility from December 3–10. At the conclusion of the inspection, the US FDA issued a Form 483 with four observations. These observations relate to enhancements in procedures and will be classified as VAI (Voluntary Action Indicated).
  • Infosys has completed its share buyback and announced the extinguishment of 10 crore equity shares via the tender offer.
  • Cyient has acquired Abu Dhabi & Gulf Computer Est. (ADGCE), an Abu Dhabi-based technology consulting and digital services provider, to better serve customers across the region’s critical energy, utilities, transportation, and connectivity sectors.
  • Yes Bank BNP Paribas Financial Markets acquired 1.77 crore equity shares (0.05% stake) in the bank for Rs 37.4 crore at Rs 21.08 per share, from Copthall Mauritius Investment.

 

Nifty Overview & Outlook

Benchmark Nifty index ended higher at 25899 spot levels after adding 140 points to its previous closing values amid 25 bps rate cut by US Fed.

Broader markets outshined the benchmark as Mid and Small cap indices rose around 1% each.

All sectoral indices, barring Media and Oil & Gas, settled in green. Amongst them, Auto, Metal, Pharma and Consumer Durables gained around 1% each.

Technically Nifty index witnessed a pullback rally from the price supports of 25700 spot levels following a three day long profit taking. Going ahead, cross and sustenance above 26050 spot levels will push Nifty index in a fresh round of congestion in 25700-26300 spot levels.

 

Derivatives Overview & Outlook

Yesterday, all index futures moved higher on short covering as Nifty, Banknifty, Finnifty and Midcapnifty futures shed 2.5%, 5%, 2.9% and 1.7% of open interest respectively.

All F&O sectors settled on a positive note. Amongst them, Automobile, FMCG and Textile stocks witnessed maximum addition of long positions along with some short covering among Banking & Finance, Realty and Technology stocks.

On option front, put writing along with some call addition was seen at multiple strikes. Maximum positions are at 25800 PE closely followed by 25700 PE and maximum call positions on call side are at 26000 CE followed by 26500 CE. Options data has improved a bit but still negative with immediate supports around 25750-25680 spot zone and resistance around 26000-26060 spot zone.

 

Institutional Trading Activity

Yesterday, FIIs sold stocks worth Rs 2021 Cr in the cash segment, bought index futures worth Rs 291 Cr also bought stocks futures worth Rs 2756 Cr. DIIs were net buyers  in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 3796 Cr.
