India–US set for fresh round of trade talks as tariff deadline shifts – Daily Market Update 11th July 2025

India is preparing to dispatch its trade negotiators to Washington DC for a fresh round of discussions with the United States, as both sides attempt to salvage momentum under the framework of a potential limited trade deal.

The move comes after the July 9 tariff pause deadline was extended to Aug. 1, providing more room for dialogue.

  • US equities closed at a new all-time high on Thursday as investors parsed a slew of tariff headlines and looked ahead to corporate results that are due to start next week.
  • Asian equities were mixed as the dollar strengthened after President Donald Trump ratcheted up trade tensions yet again by floating a higher “blanket tariffs” rate on most trading partners.
  • Oil steadied after falling more than 2% on Thursday as investors weighed the fallout from OPEC+ supply and President Donald Trump’s tariffs.

 

Important news updates from the domestic front

  • Tata Consultancy Services Q1FY26 Highlights (Consolidated, QoQ) – Revenue down 1.6% to Rs 63,437 crore versus Rs 64,479 crore. EBIT down 1% at Rs 15,514 crore versus Rs 15,601 crore. Margin at 24.5% versus 24.2%. Net profit up 4.4% at Rs 12,760 crore versus Rs 12,224 crore.
  • HUL: Rohit Jawa to step down as managing director and chief executive officer effective July 31. The company appointed Priya Nair as MD & CEO for 5 years, effective Aug. 1.
  • Zee Entertainment Enterprises shareholders on Thursday rejected proposal to raise Rs 2,237 crore via warrants issuance to promoters.
  • Spandana Sphoorthy: The board is to meet on July 15 to consider the proposal for raising funds.
  • PC Jeweller raised Rs 500 crore by preferential allotment of shares & warrants on a private placement basis.
  • State Bank of India board is to meet on July 16 to consider raising funds via issuance of Basel III capital bonds.
  • Titagarh Rail Systems to raise up to Rs 200 crore via issuing f 21 lakh convertible warrants. The floor price is Rs 945 per share.

 

Nifty Overview & Outlook

Indian equity benchmark Nifty index ended on a weak note at 25355 spot levels, down 121 points on weekly expiry day.

Broader markets fell in line with the benchmark as Mid and Small cap index ended on a slightly negative note.

Majority of sectoral indices, tracked at NSE, ended in red. Amongst them, PSU Banks, IT, FMCG, Pharma and Health care index were down just over 0.5% each. On the flip side, Realty and Metal index were up in range 0.4% to 0.8%.

Technically, Nifty index is trading in a downward sloping channel having immediate supports around 25200 and resistance at 25550 spot levels. At current juncture, it seems to wait for some fresh triggers amid tariff related uncertainty.

 

Derivatives Overview & Outlook

Yesterday, Nifty and Midcpnifty futures added around 1.5% & 1% of open interest respectively as short positions, whereas Banknifty and Finnifty futures shed around 2.5% & 1% of open interest as long unwinding.

On the sectoral front, short buildup was seen among Chemicals and Pharma stocks along with long unwinding among Banking and Textile stocks.

On options front, nifty will start the new weekly contract with maximum positions at 25500 CE and 24000 PE.

 

Institutional Trading Activity

Yesterday, FIIs bought stocks worth Rs 221 Cr in the cash segment, sold stocks futures worth Rs 3851 Cr and also sold index futures worth Rs 1834 Cr. DIIs were net buyers in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 591 Cr.
