US President Donald Trump has called on EU officials to impose tariffs of up to 100% on China and India to pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to a Reuters report. Nifty Overview & Outlook

Benchmark Nifty index settled on a positive note at 24869 spot levels after adding nearly 100 points to its previous closing values.

Broader markets performed in line with the benchmark as Mid and Small cap indices ended on a slightly positive note.

Majority of sectoral indices, tracked at NSE, ended in green. Amongst them, IT index led the bulls, rose 2.76% followed by Pharma and Healthcare index that gained 0.86% & 0.77% respectively.

Technically, Nifty index is trading in a congestion range, 24450-25100 spot zone, an either side break from the said range will set the tone for next short term directional move in that direction. Intraday supports are placed around 24750 spot levels and resistance around 24920-25000 spot zone.

 

Derivatives Overview & Outlook

Yesterday, Midcapnifty futures shed about 1% of open interest as short covering while no meaningful activity was seen among Nifty, Banknifty and Finnifty futures on price as well as open interest front.

On options front, Nifty will start the new weekly contract with maximum positions at 24000 PE followed by 24800 PE and 25000 CE.

 

Institutional Trading Activity

Yesterday, FIIs bought stocks worth Rs 2041 Cr in the cash segment, bought index futures worth Rs 280 Cr and sold stocks futures worth Rs 251 Cr. DIIs were net buyers in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 176 Cr.
