Asian shares edged higher on Tuesday, buoyed by expectations about the US-China trade talks as officials struck a positive tone after the first day of negotiations.

While no significant breakthroughs were announced after the first day of talks and stocks pared some of their earlier gains, US officials sounded optimistic about the negotiations.

  • Asian equity markets are trading higher, buoyed by optimism surrounding the US-China trade talks as officials struck a positive tone following the first day of negotiations in London.
  • US officials conveyed an upbeat outlook on the discussions. Meanwhile, data released on Monday revealed that Chinese exports to the US in May experienced their sharpest decline in over five years, underscoring the tangible impact of tariffs on trade between the world’s two largest economies.
  • Trade negotiations between the US and China are set to continue into a second day, according to a US official, as both sides seek to ease tensions surrounding technology shipments and rare earth elements.

 

Important news updates from the domestic front

  • Capri Global Capital opened its QIP to raise 2,000 crore at an issue price set at Rs 146.5 per share, a 19% discount to the last closing. The total issue size contains a green shoe option of Rs 500 crore. The proceeds are to be used for the expansion of business operations by augmenting capital base and repayment, in full or in part, of certain outstanding borrowings.
  • Tata Power’s solar manufacturing arm, TP Solar has crossed 4 GW solar module manufacturing at its Tamil Nadu plant. The plant has cumulatively produced 4049 MW of solar modules and 1441 MW of solar cells up to May 31, 2025. TP Solar is targeting 3.7 GW of solar cell output and 3.725 GW of module production in FY26.
  • Wipro strengthened its Middle East presence with new regional headquarters in Riyadh.
  • Force Motors: Sanjay Kumar Bohra resigned as CFO and Rishi Luharuka was appointed as CFO.
  • HCLTech launched a second delivery center in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The centre will deliver projects across AI, GenAI, Cloud and emerging technologies to HCLTech’s clients across industry verticals.
  • Mahindra and Mahindra Finance approved an allotment of 15.4 crore shares on a rights basis at an issue price of Rs 194 per share. The issue price includes a premium of Rs 192 per share.
  • Jana Small Finance Bank filed an application with the RBI seeking approval for a voluntary transition from a small finance bank to universal bank.
  • Nykaa completed the second tranche remaining investment of Rs 5 crore into Earth Rhythm Private.
  • Infibeam Avenues approved a letter of offer in relation to the rights issue filed with exchanges for in-principle approvals.
  • AstraZeneca Pharma: Sanjeev Kumar Panchal resigned as MD with effect from June 30 and company appointed Praveen Rao Akkinepally as Managing Director with effect from July 1.
  • Zee Entertainment signed an agreement with content start-up Bullet to launch India’s first micro-drama application.
  • IIFL Enterprises appointed Abhishek Pratapkumar Thakkar as the managing director.

Nifty Overview & Outlook

Benchmark Nifty index settled higher at 25003 levels in a sentiments driven rally after RBI’s announcement on interest rates reduction and liquidity enhancement by reducing CRR in a phased manner.

Broader markets performed in line with the benchmark as Mid and Small cap indices rose 1.21% & 0.81% respectively.

All sectoral indices, barring Media, settled higher. Amongst them, Realty index was the top performer, soared 4.68% followed by Banking, Finance, Auto and Metal index that rose over 1.5% each.

Technically, Nifty index is trading on verge of fresh breakout from the congestion zone of 24480-25120 spot levels. Cross and sustenance above 25120 spot levels might take it higher up to 25500-25600 spot levels in immediate near term. On the hand, Banknifty index witnessed breakout from the congestion zone of last Seven weeks on Friday, setting up targets in range 57500-57800 spot levels in immediate near term.

 

Derivatives Overview & Outlook

Yesterday, Finnifty and Midcapnifty futures added 38.7% and 9.2% of open interest respectively as long buildup while no significant change was seen in Nifty and Banknifty futures on open interest front.

All F&O sectors settled on a higher note. Amongst them, Capital Goods, Infrastructure , Pharma, Power and Really stocks witnessed maximum addition of long positions along with some short covering in Textile stocks.

On option front, put writing was seen at multiple strikes with maximum positions at 24000 PE followed by 25000 PE along with some call addition at out the money strikes. Maximum call positions are at 26000 CE followed by 25500 CE.

 

Institutional Trading Activity

Yesterday, FIIs bought stocks worth Rs 1993 Cr in the cash segment, sold index futures worth Rs 538 Cr and bought stocks futures worth Rs 19 Cr. DIIs too were net buyers in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 3504 crore Cr.
