Adani Airport logs impressive 7% cargo volume growth : Daily Market Update -10 June 2024

Adani Airport Holdings Ltd. recorded a 7% growth on-year in cargo handled to cross the one-million-tonne mark last fiscal, a company statement said. The company handled 10.13 lakh metric tonne of cargo in the financial year concluded March 2024, capturing over 30% market share. In the previous fiscal, the total cargo tonnage handled stood at 9.45 lakh metric tonne. "This achievement solidifies our position as key facilitators in both international and domestic airfreight operations in India," said Adani Airport Chief Executive Officer Arun Bansal.

Nifty Overview & Outlook

Benchmark Nifty index ended sharply higher at 23290 levels after adding 468 points or over 2% to its previous closing values.

Broader Markets performed in line with benchmark as Mid & Small cap index rose 1.55% & 2.31% respectively; resultant, strong market breadth.

All sectoral indices tracked at NSE settled in green. Nifty IT index was at the top of the tally, soared nearly 3.5% and rest of the sectoral indices too moved significantly higher, gained 1% to 2.56% each.

Going ahead, we reiterate our bullish view on Nifty index till it is trading above 22800 levels on closing basis and expect it to test 23400 and higher levels in immediate near term. Hence, we suggest traders to maintain buy on dips trading approach till index is holding above the said levels.

 

Derivatives Overview & Outlook

On Friday, Nifty and Finnifty futures rose on short covering as both shed around 0.8% and 12.2% of open interest respectively, whereas long buildup was seen in Banknifty and Midcap nifty futures with increase in open interest by 0.9% and 1.2% respectively.

Majority of F&O sectors settled on a positive note. Amongst them, FMCG, Infrastructure, Media and Telecom stocks witnessed maximum addition of long positions whereas, Banking, Power and Technology stocks were up on short covering.

On option front, call writing along with put writing was seen at multiple strikes and maximum positions are at 24000 CE and maximum put positions are at 23000 PE.

 

Institutional Trading Activity

Last week, FIIs sold stocks worth Rs 12581 Cr in the cash segment, bought index futures worth Rs 7703 Cr and also bought stocks futures worth Rs 8046 Cr. DIIs were net buyers in the cash segment to the tune of Rs 5578 Cr.
