BASE METALS

  • In base metal counter, Copper (Nov) prices can trade on strong path as it can move in range of 1010-1026. Copper retreated after hitting a record high in the previous session, leading to weakness across base metals as US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping start pivotal trade talks.
  • Futures on the London Metal Exchange fell as much as 1.4% on Thursday, pulling back from a surge to an all-time high in the previous session that capped a 28% year-to-date advance.
  • Aluminum (Nov) prices can trade on mixed path as it may move in range of 268-274.while Zinc (Nov) may move on upside path as it may trade in range of 298-304.
  • Meanwhile, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s blunt warning that investors need to rein in expectations for a December interest-rate cut is adding further pressure on metals.

 ENERGY

  • Crude oil (Nov) may trade with mixed path as it can move in range of 5300-5400. Oil prices held on to most gains from the previous session in early trading on Thursday as investors awaited U.S.-China trade talks later in the day, hoping for signs that tensions clouding the economic growth outlook will ease.
  • U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet on Thursday in Busan, South Korea, on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. Markets hope they will agree to dial down trade tensions that have hurt the outlook for global growth and fuel demand.
  • Natural gas (Nov) may remain on volatile path as it can move in range of 332-336.
  • Also boosting the economic outlook, the U.S. Federal Reserve lowered interest rates on Wednesday, in line with market expectations. However, it signaled that might be the last cut of the year as the ongoing government shutdown threatens data availability.
