BULLIONS
- Bullions counter may trade with volatile path as yellow metal prices rebounded on Thursday from a one-month low hit in the previous session, as trade uncertainty stemming from fresh U.S. tariff announcements lifted bullion demand and investors bought on dips despite reduced expectations of a U.S. rate cut.
- Overall gold can move in range of 98200-99000 while silver also can move in range of 110000-114000.
- Meanwhile, the U.S. Federal Reserve held interest rates steady on Wednesday and Chair Jerome Powell’s comments following the decision dampened expectations of rate cuts in September.
- U.S. economic growth rebounded more than expected in the second quarter, but that measurement grossly overstated the economy’s health as declining imports accounted for the bulk of the improvement and domestic demand increased at its slowest pace in 2-1/2 years.
BASE METALS
- In base metal counter, Copper prices can trade on lower path as it can move in range of 875-885. Copper prices were range bound on Thursday as traders felt relieved after U.S. President Donald Trump excluded copper cathodes, the most liquid red metal product in the market, from the 50% import tariff on the metal to be effective on August 1.
- Trump on Wednesday signed a proclamation ordering 50% tariffs on semi-finished copper products and copper-intensive derivative products as of August 1. He exempted copper cathodes and other red metal input materials such as scrap, ores, concentrates, mattes and anodes.
- Aluminum prices can trade on upside path as it may move in range of 250-254.while lead may also move in range of 177-183.
ENERGY
- Crude oil may trade on upside path as it can move in range of 6080-6210. Oil prices gained for a fourth straight day on Thursday, as investors worried about supply shortages amid U.S. President Donald Trump’s push for a swift resolution to the war in Ukraine and threats of tariffs on countries buying Russian oil.
- On Tuesday, Trump said he would start imposing measures on Russia, including 100% secondary tariffs on its trading partners, if it did not make progress on ending the war within 10-12 days, moving up an earlier 50-day deadline.
- On Wednesday, the U.S. Treasury Department announced fresh sanctions on over 115 Iran-linked individuals, entities and vessels, in a sign the Trump administration is doubling down on its “maximum pressure” campaign after bombing Tehran’s key nuclear sites in June. China is the top buyer of Iran’s oil.
- Natural gas may trade on lower path as it can move in range of 260-270.
