COMMODITY DAILY MARKET NEWS AND OUTLOOK

BULLIONS

  • Bullions counter may trade on weaker path as gold prices was set to snap an eight-week winning streak on a stronger dollar, while investors turned their focus to a key U.S. inflation data for cues into the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy trajectory.
  • Overall gold (Apr) can move in range of 84400-85200 while silver (May) also can move in range of 94000-95500.
  • Trump said on Thursday that his proposed 25% tariffs on Mexican and Canadian goods will take effect March 4 along with an extra 10% duty on Chinese imports because deadly drugs are still pouring into the U.S. from those countries.
  • Gold is seen as a hedge against political risks and inflation, but higher interest rates dampen the non-yielding asset’s appeal.
  • Investors now await the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) data, the Fed’s preferred inflation measure, due later in the day, for further clues on the U.S. economic outlook.

BASE METALS

  • In base metal counter, Copper prices can trade on lower path as it can move in range of 855-865. London copper prices eased on Friday, and were on track to post weekly losses, as the dollar firmed on U.S. President Donald Trump’s imminent tariff plans. The dollar drew safe-haven support on the day ahead of Trump’s impending tariffs, making greenback-priced commodities more expensive for holders of other currencies.
  • Aluminum prices can trade on volatile path as it may move in range of 255-263.while lead may also move in range of 177-182.
  • Although short-term upward pressures on metal prices are likely in response to Trump-led trade policy shifts, the longer-term outlook remains bearish, as tariffs are expected to weigh on the market, pushing up the U.S. dollar and posing headwinds to metals.

ENERGY

  • Crude oil may trade on mixed path as it can move in range of 6050-6150. Oil prices eased on Friday, heading for their first monthly drop since November, as uncertainty over global economic growth and fuel demand from Washington’s tariff threats and further signs of a U.S. economic slowdown outweighed supply concerns.
  • U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday said his proposed 25% tariffs on Mexican and Canadian goods will take effect on March 4, along with an extra 10% duty on Chinese imports.
  • Natural gas may trade on weaker path as it can move in range of 335-350.
  • Also weighing on investor sentiment, data showed U.S. jobless claims jumped more than expected in the previous week, while another government report reiterated that economic growth slowed in the fourth quarter.
