BULLIONS
- Bullions counter may trade on mixed path as gold edged lower on Friday after stronger-than-expected U.S. economic data cast doubt on the Federal Reserve’s rate cut outlook and lifted the dollar, while investors awaited U.S. inflation data due later in the day for further direction.
- Overall Gold can move in range of 111500-113500 while Silver also can move in range of 135000-138000.
- The number of Americans filing new applications for unemployment benefits fell last week, while the U.S. economy grew faster than was estimated in the second quarter amid strong consumer spending and business investment.
- SPDR Gold Trust, the world’s largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, said its holdings fell 0.37% to 996.85 tonnes on Wednesday from 1,000.57 tonnes on Tuesday.
BASE METALS
- In base metal counter, Copper (Oct) prices can trade on firm path as it can move in range of 941-950. Shanghai copper extended gains on Friday with the market supported by supply disruption concerns following Freeport’s force majeure declaration but gains were limited by weaker demand amid high prices.
- Aluminum prices can trade on mixed path as it may move in range of 253-258.while Zinc may move on volatile path as it may trade in range of 282-288.
- The high prices come amid restocking ahead of China’s National Day holiday from October 1 to October 8, which is expected to impact demand, with further gains in copper price depending on the downstream acceptance of high copper prices.
ENERGY
- Crude oil may trade with upside path as it can move in range of 5720-5850. Oil prices edged up on Friday, on track to rise at their steepest rate since early June as Ukraine’s attacks on Russia’s energy infrastructure push Moscow to restrict fuel exports and close to cutting crude output.
- Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said on Thursday the country would introduce a partial ban on diesel exports until the end of the year and extend an existing ban on gasoline exports.
- Stronger-than-expected economic data could make the Federal Reserve more cautious about cutting interest rates. The U.S. central bank cut rates by 25 bps last week, its first cut since December, and had signaled more reductions ahead.
- Natural gas (Oct) may move on firm path as it can move in range of 282-292.
