BULLIONS

  • Bullions counter may trade on firm path as longer-dated U.S. Treasuries slid on Tuesday after President Donald Trump announced he was firing a Federal Reserve governor, an unprecedented move that further undermines confidence in the Fed’s independence and U.S. assets.
  • Gold touched a two-week high and U.S. equity futures fell, as Trump also renewed tariff threats on trade partners.
  • Overall gold can move in range of 100200-101200 while silver also can move in range of 115000-117000.
  • Barclays, BNP Paribas and Deutsche Bank, now expect a 25-basis-point Fed rate cut in September. Fed funds futures traders are pricing in 83% odds of a September cut, according to the CME Group’s Fed Watch Tool.

BASE METALS

  • In base metal counter, Copper prices can trade on firm path as it can move in range of 880-890. Copper prices rose across major exchanges on Tuesday on U.S. efforts to classify the metal as a critical mineral, while regulatory developments in Chile fueled supply concerns.
  • Copper is expected to gain increased interest as the U.S. seeks to elevate its significance, with the U.S. Geological Survey proposing copper’s addition to the 2025 draft list of critical minerals
  • Aluminum prices can trade on mixed path as it may move in range of 247-254.while lead may also move in range of 178-182.
  • Codelco, the world’s largest copper producer, had cut its copper forecast for the year due to the impact of the incident.

ENERGY

  • Crude oil may trade on mixed path as it can move in range of 5620-5730. Oil prices edged down on Tuesday after surging nearly 2% in the previous session, as traders kept a close watch on developments in the Russia-Ukraine conflict for the potential impact on fuel supplies from the region.
  • Oil’s rally on Monday was primarily driven by concerns of supply disruptions as Ukraine struck Russian energy infrastructure, and as traders anticipated more U.S. sanctions on Russian oil.
  • The attacks disrupted Moscow’s oil processing and exports, created gasoline shortages in some parts of Russia, and came in response to Moscow’s advances on the front lines and its pounding of Ukraine’s gas and power facilities.
