BASE METALS

  • In base metal counter, Copper prices can trade on positive path as it can move in range of 803-820. Base metals prices rose on Monday as the U.S. dollar eased, making greenback-priced metals cheaper to holders of other currencies, although gains were capped by concerns over the demand outlook.
  • Aluminium prices can trade on mixed path as it may move in range of 246-250.while lead may tad lower as it may move in range of 172-182.
  • Despite the rise on Monday, copper prices on both exchanges are set for the second straight monthly loss due to disappointment in the Chinese stimulus released so far and worries that U.S. President-elect Donald Trump will impose tariffs on China and hurt trade flows and economic growth.
  • Copper inventories in SHFE warehouses have been dipping during China’s peak consumption season, but stockpiles in LME and COMEX warehouses are largely unchanged, reflecting weak demand outside China.

 

ENERGY

  • Crude oil may trade on upside path as it can move in range of 5920-6080. Oil prices hovered near two-week highs on Monday following 6% gains last week, as geopolitical tensions heightened between western powers and major oil producers Russia and Iran, raising risks of supply disruption.
  • Both contracts last week notched their biggest weekly gains since late September to reach their highest settlement levels since Nov. 7 after Russia fired a hypersonic missile at Ukraine in a warning to the United States and UK following strikes by Kyiv on Russia using U.S. and British weapons.
  • In addition, Iran reacted to a resolution passed by the U.N. nuclear watchdog on Thursday by ordering measures such as activating various new and advanced centrifuges used in enriching uranium.
  • Natural gas (Dec) may trade on upside path as it can move in range of 290-310.
