- Bullions counter may trade on firm path as gold prices held steady near a record high on Wednesday as investors assessed U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s cautious comments on interest rate cuts while awaiting a key inflation report due later in the week for further policy cues.
- Overall Gold can move in range of 113000-115000 while Silver also can move in range of 133000-136000.
- Powell said on Tuesday the central bank needed to continue balancing the competing risks of high inflation and a weakening job market in coming rate decisions, even as his colleagues staked out arguments on both sides of the policy divide.
- In its latest Economic Outlook Interim Report, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development said the full impact of U.S. tariff hikes was still unfolding, with firms so far absorbing much of the shock through narrower margins and inventory buffers.
BASE METALS
- In base metal counter, Copper prices can trade on firm path as it can move in range of 904-912. Freeport McMoRan reported that it will temporarily suspend its Grasberg mine in Indonesia the second-largest copper producer in the world following a mud flow incident that trapped seven workers underground two weeks ago.
- Aluminum prices can trade on mixed path as it may move in range of 253-258.while Zinc may move on volatile path as it may trade in range of 275-280.
- The recent updates signal a potentially extended suspension at the mine, which could quickly tighten the market and exacerbate the long-running supply constraints that have supported prices this year.
ENERGY
- Crude oil may trade with mixed path as it can move in range of 5600-5720. Oil prices rose for a second day on Wednesday as an industry report showed U.S. crude inventories declined last week, adding to a sense in the market of tightening supplies.
- The agreement between Iraq’s federal and Kurdish regional governments and oil companies would resume exports of about 230,000 barrels per day of oil. Pipeline flows have been stopped since March 2023.
- Later in the day, American Petroleum Institute figures showed U.S. crude and gasoline stocks fell, while distillate stocks rose last week, according to market sources citing the API data.
- Natural gas may move on firm path as it can move in range of 251-258.
