BULLIONS
- Bullions counter may trade with lower path as yellow metal prices held steady on Thursday after a sharp drop in the previous session, as easing trade tensions dented demand for safe-haven assets, overshadowing support from a weaker dollar.
- Overall gold (Aug) can move in range of 98300-99500 while silver (Sep) also can move in range of 114000-116000.
- The European Union and the United States are nearing an agreement on a similar trade deal that would impose 15% tariffs on European imports, while waiving duties on some items, according to officials from the European Commission.
- Markets widely expect the Fed to leave interest rates unchanged next week. Odds for a September reduction stand at about 63%, according to the CME Fed Watch tool.
BASE METALS
- In base metal counter, Copper prices can trade on upside path as it can move in range of 896-906. Copper prices on the London Metal Exchange and the Shanghai Futures Exchange edged up on Thursday, and traders closely monitored the progress of the U.S. trade talks with trade partners and details about the U.S. 50% copper import tariff.
- Aluminum prices can trade on upside path as it may move in range of 250-256.while lead may also move in range of 176-183.
- The European Union and the U.S. are moving toward a trade deal that could include a 15% U.S. baseline tariff on EU goods and possible exemptions, two European diplomats said on Wednesday, potentially moving President Donald Trump closer to another major trade agreement on the heels of the one he just unveiled with Japan.
- Chile’s mining minister and the chairman of the world’s biggest copper producer, Codelco, said on Wednesday they have not yet received details on 50% copper tariffs due to be imposed by the U.S. on August 1. The majority of the United States’ refined copper imports comes from Chile.
ENERGY
- Crude oil may trade on mixed path as it can move in range of 5610-5730. Oil prices rose on Thursday, buoyed by optimism over U.S. trade negotiations that would ease pressure on the global economy and a sharper-than-expected decline in U.S. crude inventories.
- Both benchmarks were little changed on Wednesday as markets monitored developments in U.S.-European Union trade talks, following President Donald Trump’s tariff deal with Japan. The agreement lowers duties on auto imports and spares Tokyo from new levies in exchange for a $550 billion package of U.S.-bound investment and loans.
- On the supply side, U.S. Energy Information Administration data showed U.S. crude inventories fell last week by 3.2 million barrels to 419 million barrels.
- The U.S. energy secretary said on Tuesday that the U.S. would consider sanctioning Russian oil to end the war in Ukraine. Meanwhile, the EU on Friday agreed its 18th sanctions package against Russia, lowering the price cap for Russian crude.
- Natural gas may trade on sideways path as it can move in range of 263-276.
