- Bullions counter may trade on upside path as gold prices rose on Wednesday as the U.S. dollar eased, with market participants bracing for the upcoming Jackson Hole symposium, while minutes revealed that Federal Reserve dissenters appeared alone in favoring a rate cut at the July meeting.
- Overall gold can move in range of 98800-99400 while silver also can move in range of 111500-114000. The two Federal Reserve policymakers who dissented against last month’s decision to keep interest rates unchanged – Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman and Governor Christopher Waller – appeared to be alone in advocating for a rate cut.
- Traders currently expect an 83% chance of a quarter-point rate cut in September, according to the CME Fed Watch tool.
- Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump called on Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook to resign over mortgage allegations, intensifying his effort to gain influence over the U.S. central bank.
BASE METALS
- In base metal counter, Copper prices can trade on mixed path as it can move in range of 868-878.
- Aluminum prices can trade on weaker path as it may move in range of 245-254.while lead may also move in range of 178-182. Aluminum climbed on Thursday, outperforming its peers, as lower inventories and signs of improving demand in top consumer China boosted prices.
- Global primary aluminum output in July rose 2.5% year-on-year to 6.373 million tonnes, data from the International Aluminium Institute (IAI) showed on Wednesday. Meanwhile, investors are closely watching for cues from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s speech on Friday for a test of bets on a rate cut.
ENERGY
- Crude oil may witness lower level buying as it can move in range of 5420-5530. Oil prices gained slightly on Thursday as larger-than-expected declines crude oil and fuel inventories in the U.S., the world’s biggest oil user, supported expectations for steady demand.
- U.S. crude inventories fell by 6 million barrels last week to 420.7 million barrels, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said on Wednesday.
- Russia, however, remains adamant it will keep providing crude to willing buyers, with Russian diplomats in India saying on Wednesday the country expects to continue supplying oil to India despite warnings from the U.S.
- Natural gas may remain on volatile path as it can move in range of 235-245.
- Indian refiners initially backed off their Russian buying but company officials at state-run Indian Oil and Bharat Petroleum have bought Russian oil for September and October delivery, resuming purchases after discounts widened.
