BASE METALS

  • In base metal counter, Copper prices can trade on subdued path as it can move in range of 868-878.
  • Aluminum prices can trade on weaker path as it may move in range of 245-254.while lead may also move in range of 178-182. Aluminum extended its fall on Wednesday to hit its lowest level in more than two weeks, after the United States widened the 50% import tariff on the metal and its products.
  • The U.S. Commerce Department said on Tuesday it is hiking steel and aluminum tariffs on more than 400 products that include wind turbines and appliances, and doesn’t exclude goods in transit.
  • Additionally, China kept benchmark lending rates in August unchanged for the third consecutive month on Wednesday, as authorities signalled they are not in a rush to roll out monetary stimulus.

ENERGY

  • Crude oil may trade on sideways path as it can move in range of 5340-5530. Oil prices rose on Wednesday as supply concerns are resurfacing while peace talks ending Russia’s invasion of Ukraine are likely to take longer, leaving in place sanctions on Russian crude and raising the chance of further restrictions on its buyers.
  • Prices settled down more than 1% on Tuesday on optimism a deal to end the war seemed closer, which would mean the easing sanctions on Russia and an increase in global supply.
  • However, despite comments from U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday the U.S. might provide air support as part of a deal to end Russia’s war in the country, he also conceded Russian President Vladimir Putin might not want to make a deal after all.
