BASE METALS

  • In base metal counter, Copper prices can trade on upside path as it can move in range of 885-910. Metal prices on the London Metals Exchange were mostly trading higher on Monday, supported by a weaker dollar, although concerns over U.S. tariffs limited the gains.
  • Aluminum prices can trade on firm path as it may move in range of 262-267.while lead may also move in range of 180-185.
  • Copper production from Chilean state miner Codelco , the world’s largest copper producer, dipped 4% in January to hit 102,700 metric tons, according to data from copper commission Cochilco.
  • Copper found some support after Codelco warned that production this quarter will be similar or slightly below year-ago levels due to maintenance work.

ENERGY

  • Crude oil may trade on upside bias as it can move in range of 5830-5980. Oil prices surged on Monday, U.S. stock futures slid while those in Asia charged higher as investors took stock of the contrasting fortunes between the United States and the rest of the world.
  • Natural gas may trade on volatile path as it can move in range of 345-368.
  • The week is a busy one with a series of central bank policy meetings, including by the U.S. Federal Reserve. It is widely expected to keep rates on hold when its meeting concludes on Wednesday.
  • Over the weekend the U.S. defence secretary said the country would continue attacking Yemen’s Houthis until they ended attacks on shipping, sending oil prices sharply higher in early Asia trade on Monday as investors worried about disruptions to supply.
