  • On the geopolitical front, Israeli strikes in Gaza killed at least 53 Palestinians, including a journalist and rescue workers, medics said, while the Israeli military said its air and ground forces in the north of the enclave killed dozens of militants and captured others.

BASE METALS

  • In base metal counter, Copper prices can trade on lower path as it can move in range of 805-825
  • Aluminium prices can trade on mixed path as it may move in range of 241-246.while lead may also move in range of 177-182.
  • China’s aluminium production rose by 3.6 % to 3.71 million metric tons in November from a year earlier, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Monday.
  • In the first eleven months of the year, China produced 40.22 million metric tons, a rise of 4.6 % from the same period last year, the data showed.
  • Production of ten nonferrous metals – including copper, aluminium, lead, zinc and nickel – rose 1.5 % to 6.71 million metric tons from a year earlier. Year-to-date output was up 4.4 % at 72.29 million metric tons.

ENERGY

  • Crude oil may trade on upside path as it can move in range of 5950-6100. Oil futures eased from their highest levels in weeks as investors awaited a meeting of the Federal Reserve later this week for indication of further rate cuts.
  • Oil prices were bolstered by new European Union sanctions on Russian oil last week and expectations of tighter sanctions on Iranian supply.
  • The Fed is expected to cut interest rates by a quarter of a percentage point at its Dec. 17-18 meeting which will also provide an updated look at how much further Fed officials think they will reduce rates in 2025 and perhaps into 2026.
  • U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen told that the U.S. is looking at further sanctions on “dark fleet” tankers and will not rule out sanctions on Chinese banks as it seeks to reduce Russia’s oil revenue and access to foreign supplies to fuel its war in Ukraine.
