COMMODITY DAILY MARKET NEWS AND OUTLOOK

BULLIONS

  • Bullions counter may trade on upside path as yellow metal prices gained on Tuesday, amid uncertainty around the incoming Trump administration’s policies and fresh positioning ahead of crucial U.S. data for further cues on the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy.
  • Overall gold (Feb) can move in range of 77800-78400 while silver (Mar) also can move in range of 89500 -91000.
  • The bullion fell about 1% in the last session as a strong U.S. dollar, buoyed by robust jobs data last week, dampened investor appetite for the precious metal.
  • Investors now await U.S. consumer price index (CPI) data on Wednesday and the producer price index (PPI) report later in the day for further insights into the economy and the Fed’s policy path. Several Fed officials are also due to speak this week.

BASE METALS

  • In base metal counter, Copper prices can trade on firm path as it can move in range of 824-833.  Base metals traded mixed on Tuesday, with copper steady at its one-month high, although gains were capped by a strong U.S. dollar following robust economic data.
  • Aluminium prices can trade on mixed path as it may move in range of 242-248.while lead may also move in range of 174-180.
  • The dollar hung near its highest in more than two years as traders scaled back U.S. rate cuts bets in 2025 after strong economic data last week.
  • The U.S. registered an out-performance in its economic data, with unexpected job growth acceleration and a 4.1% decline in unemployment rate last month. This prompted traders to dial back hopes of Federal Reserve rate cuts this year.

ENERGY

  • Crude oil may trade on strong path as it can move in range of 6740-6900. Oil prices slipped at market open on Tuesday but remained near four-month highs as Chinese and Indian buyers sought new suppliers in the wake of the Biden administration’s toughest sanctions yet on Russian oil.
  • Natural gas may trade on volatile path as it can move in range of 310-355.
  • U.S. President Joe Biden said prices would stabilise after the sanctions and they were not meant to impact the pocketbooks of U.S. consumers.
  • Weaker demand from major buyer China could blunt the impact of the tighter supply. China’s crude oil imports fell in 2024 for the first time in two decades outside of the COVID-19 pandemic, official data showed on Monday.
