BASE METALS

  • In base metal counter, Copper prices can trade on strong path as it can move in range of 905-920. Copper futures were headed for a weekly rise on Friday, buoyed by anticipation of U.S. Federal Reserve rate cuts and tightening supply following a dip in Peruvian output.
  • The dollar index, which measures the U.S. currency against six major peers, last traded at 97.585 and on track to record its second consecutive weekly decline. The greenback was under pressure after higher U.S. jobless claims and a modest increase in inflation reinforced expectations for Fed rate cuts next week.
  • Aluminum prices can trade on mixed path as it may move in range of 257-262.while Zinc may move on volatile path as it may trade in range of 277-282.
  • Copper output in Peru, the world’s third-largest copper producer, fell 2% year-on-year in July to 228,007 metric tons.

ENERGY

  • Crude oil may trade with lower path as it can move in range of 5420-5560. Oil prices slid on Thursday, settling about 2% lower as concerns over possible softening of U.S. demand and broad oversupply offset threats to output from the conflict in the Middle East and the war in Ukraine.
  • The International Energy Agency said in its monthly report that world oil supply will rise more rapidly than expected this year due to planned output increases by OPEC+, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and allies like Russia.
  • Natural gas may remain on weaker path as it can move in range of 255-261.
