BULLIONS

  • Overall gold (Apr) can move in range of 85300-86500 while silver (Mar) also can move in range of 94000-95500.
  • Trump substantially raised tariffs on steel and aluminum imports on Monday to a flat 25% “without exceptions or exemptions” in a move to aid the struggling industries but which increases the risk of a multi-front trade war.
  • Tariffs may exacerbate U.S. inflation, with investors awaiting U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) on Wednesday and Producer Price Index (PPI) data on Thursday.
  • Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell is also due to testify before Congress on Tuesday and Wednesday.

  • In base metal counter, Copper prices can trade on positive path as it can move in range of 850-865.

  • London aluminium was rangebound near its three-week high on Tuesday as investors weighed risks of a major global trade war after U.S. President Donald Trump imposed new 25% tariffs on all steel and aluminium imports.
  • Trump substantially raised tariffs on steel and aluminium imports on Monday to a flat 25% “without exceptions or exemptions” in a move to aid the struggling industries.

 ENERGY

  • Crude oil may trade on volatile path as it can move in range of 6220-6400. Oil prices were steady on Tuesday as traders digested another round of trade tariffs, this time a 25% levy on all U.S. imports of steel and aluminium, which could weigh on global economic and energy demand in the world’s biggest oil consumer.
  • President Donald Trump substantially raised tariffs on steel and aluminium imports to the U.S. on Tuesday to a flat 25% “without exceptions or exemptions” to aid the struggling industries that could increase the risk of a multi-front trade war.
  • Also weighing on crude demand, the U.S. Federal Reserve will wait until next quarter before cutting rates again. The Fed faces the threat of rising inflation. Keeping rates at a higher level could limit economic growth, which would impact oil demand growth.
