BASE METALS

  • In base metal counter, Copper prices can trade on volatile path as it can move in range of 883-893. Shanghai copper futures climbed on Monday to hit their highest in more than a week, aided by a softer dollar and China demand hopes, even though supply concerns eased after Codelco got nod to restart operations at the El Teniente mine in Chile.
  • Aluminum prices can trade on stronger path as it may move in range of 250-257.while lead may also move in range of 178-183.
  • However, gains were curbed by easing supply concerns as miner Codelco received authorisation from Chile’s labor inspector office to begin resuming certain operations at its flagship El Teniente copper mine.
  • China’s producer prices fell more than expected in July, underscoring the impact of sluggish domestic demand and persistent trade uncertainty on consumer and business sentiment.

ENERGY

  • Crude oil may trade on lower path as it can move in range of 5500-5650. Oil prices fell in early Asian trading on Monday, extending declines of more than 4% last week on higher U.S. tariffs on its trading partners, an OPEC output hike, and expectations the U.S. and Russia were moving closer to a Ukraine ceasefire pact.
  • Expectations have risen for a potential end to sanctions that have limited the supply of Russian oil to international markets, after U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that he would meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 15 in Alaska to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine.
  • Natural gas may dip further buying as it can move in range of 250-265.
