Report Overview

BULLIONS

  • Bullions counter may trade on positive path as it hit a record high above $3,600 an ounce on Tuesday, spurred by expectations of U.S. rate cuts, concerns about Federal Reserve independence and robust demand from investors and central banks.
  • Overall Gold (Oct) can move in range of 108200-109500 while Silver (Dec) also can move in range of 124000-126000.
  • Supportive for gold is the bearish dollar outlook underpinned by expectations of Fed cuts, investors distancing from U.S. assets and tariff-related economic uncertainty.
  • The dollar has fallen nearly 11% since President Donald Trump returned to the White House in January. Expectations of further U.S. rate cuts will further undermine the U.S. currency, which when it falls makes dollar-denominated gold cheaper for holders of other currencies.

BASE METALS

  • In base metal counter, Copper prices can trade on upside path as it can move in range of 896-905. Copper prices in London inched higher on Wednesday, buoyed by a landmark planned merger between Anglo American and Teck Resources, and ongoing supply concerns following global mine disruptions.
  • On Tuesday, London-listed miner Anglo American and Canada’s Teck Resources announced plans to merge, creating the world’s fifth-largest copper company and marking the sector’s second-largest M&A transaction to date, a big bet on copper by Anglo.
  • Aluminum prices can trade on mixed path as it may move in range of 252-257.while Zinc may move on volatile path as it may trade in range of 273-277. China Zinc Smelters Purchasing Team (CZSPT) set processing fees for cargoes imported by the end of the fourth quarter at $120-140 a dry metric ton, versus $80-100 for the third quarter, state-backed research house Antaike said late on Tuesday.

ENERGY

  • Crude oil may trade with positive path as it can move in range of 5500-5650. Oil prices rose on Wednesday after Israel attacked Hamas leadership in Qatar and U.S. President Donald Trump asked Europe to impose tariffs on buyers of Russian oil, but a weak market outlook capped gains.
  • The oil price response was seen as relatively limited because of overall market weakness. Both benchmarks rose almost 2% shortly after the attack, but then retreated after the U.S. told Doha such a thing would not happen again on its soil.
  • Trump has urged the European Union to impose 100% tariffs on China and India as a strategy to pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to sources.
  • China and India are major buyers of Russian oil, which has helped to support Russia’s coffers since it launched its invasion of Ukraine in 2022, despite heavy sanction pressure from the U.S.
  • Natural gas may remain on mixed path as it can move in range of 268-278.
