MORNING RECOMMENDATION

BULLIONS

  • Bullions counter may open in firm path as gold and silver prices advanced after metal markets logged wild swings last week amid sluggish haven demand, profit-taking, and increased uncertainty over U.S. monetary policy. Gold (Apr) can move in range of 154000-160000 while silver (Mar) can move in range of 245000-266000.
  • Gold rose above $5,010 per ounce on Monday, reaching its highest level in over a week, as investors’ awaited key US economic data that could offer clearer signals on the Federal Reserve’s interest rate outlook.
  • The January jobs report due Wednesday, which is anticipated to show signs of stabilization in the labor market, as well as inflation data on Friday will be closely watched.

BASE METALS

  • In base metal counter, Copper (Feb) prices can trade on mixed path as it can move in range of 1220-1270. Copper prices rebounded Monday after last week’s sharp selloff, helped by a weaker US dollar and bargain hunters. The softer dollar helps because the metal is priced in greenbacks, making it cheaper for buyers elsewhere. But the bigger drivers haven’t gone away: mine disruptions have kept supply tight, and refined stock levels are uneven as traders weigh possible US tariff changes.
  • Copper jumped on China’s Shanghai Futures Exchange and held above $13,000 a ton in London, a quick snapback after a steep weekly drop.
  • Aluminum (Feb) prices can trade on upside path as it may move in range of 305-320.while Zinc (Feb) may move on volatile path as it may trade in range of 315-330.

ENERGY

  • Crude oil (Feb) may trade on lower path as it can move in range of 5650-5850. Oil prices fell on Monday after the U.S. and Iran pledged to continue talks over the Middle Eastern producer’s nuclear programme, easing concerns about a possible conflict that could disrupt supply from the region.
  • Iran and the U.S. pledged to continue the indirect nuclear talks following what both sides described as positive discussions on Friday in Oman despite differences.
  • Investors are also worried about possible disruptions to supply from Iran and other regional producers as exports equal to about a fifth of the world’s total oil consumption pass through the Strait of Hormuz between Oman and Iran.
  • Natural gas (Feb) may remain on lower path as it can move in range of 296-307.
