BASE METALS

  • In base metal counter, Copper (Oct) prices can trade on firm path as it can move in range of 990-1000. Copper prices rose on Tuesday on supply disruption concerns, although a stronger U.S. dollar kept gains in check.
  • Miner Freeport said on Sunday that five workers, missing since a mud flow disaster at the Grasberg copper and gold mine in Indonesia last month, were found dead.
  • Aluminum prices can trade on upside path as it may move in range of 258-263.while Zinc may move on upside path as it may trade in range of 290-297.
  • Operational suspensions at Grasberg, coupled with disruptions at Kamoa-Kakula in the Democratic Republic of Congo and El Teniente mine in Chile, suggest supply concerns are likely to persist this year.

ENERGY

  • Crude oil may trade with upside path as it can move in range of 5430-5570. Oil prices were steady on Tuesday, with sentiment toward a smaller-than-anticipated OPEC+ output hike dulled by weakening global demand and the potential for a supply glut.
  • Crude oil prices gained after OPEC announced a smaller than expected production rise. The oil market has been anticipating a large rise in quotas for the group’s members as they met to discuss their supply agreement over the weekend.
  • Geopolitical factors have kept a floor under prices, with conflict between Russia and Ukraine impacting energy assets and creating uncertainty over Russian crude supply.
  • Russia’s Kirishi oil refinery halted its most productive distillation unit, CDU-6, following a drone attack and subsequent fire on October 4, with its recovery likely to take about a month, two industry sources said on Monday.
