- The U.S. economy shed jobs in October amid losses in the government and retail sectors, while cost-cutting and the adoption of artificial intelligence by businesses led to a surge in announced layoffs, data showed on Thursday.
BASE METALS
- In base metal counter, Copper (Nov) prices can trade on subdued path as it can move in range of 995-1010. Copper held losses after four days of declines as a stronger dollar puts pressure on commodities and a global equities rout undermines broader market sentiment.
- Copper prices reached an all-time high last week on optimism that a US-China trade deal would boost demand, while a spate of disruptions at major mines around the world brought home the delicate supply balance for a metal that’s key to the world’s growing electrification.
- Aluminum (Nov) prices can trade on mixed path as it may move in range of 270-274.while Zinc (Nov) may move on upside path as it may trade in range of 298-304.
ENERGY
- Crude oil (Nov) may trade with mixed path as it can move in range of 5250-5350. Oil edged up on Friday following three days of declines on worries about excess supply and slowing demand in the U.S., though prices appeared to be headed for a second week of losses.
- U.S. crude stocks rose more than expected on higher imports and reduced refining activity, while gasoline and distillate inventories declined, the Energy Information Administration said on Wednesday.
- The Trump administration has ordered flight reductions at major airports due to a shortage of air traffic controllers, while private reports are pointing to a weaker U.S. labor market in October.
- The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies, also known as OPEC+, decided on Sunday to increase output slightly in December. However, the group also paused further increases for the first quarter of next year, wary of a supply glut.
- Natural gas (Nov) may remain on upside path as it can move in range of 380-400.
