BULLIONS
- Bullions counter may move on volatile path as gold climbed more than 1% on Thursday, hovering near one-week highs, as geopolitical and economic tensions continued to bolster prices, while silver and palladium also posted gains. Overall Gold (Apr) can move in range of 147000-154000 while silver (Mar) can move in range of 245000-260000.
- On the geopolitical front, Iran and the U.S. have agreed to hold talks in Oman on Friday, officials on both sides said, even as they remained at odds over Washington’s demand that negotiations cover Tehran’s missile arsenal and Iran’s insistence to discuss only its nuclear programme.
- U.S. private payrolls rose by just 22,000 in January, well below economists’ expectations for a 48,000 increase, according to ADP data. Labour market weakness typically strengthens the case for interest rate cuts aimed at supporting job creation.
BASE METALS
- In base metal counter, Copper (Feb) prices can trade on mixed path as it can move in range of 1200-1250. Copper fell after its biggest one-day advance in more than three years, with investors shifting their focus back to the outlook for Chinese demand after a wild ride for the key industrial metal.
- Copper used in pipes and batteries is up by about 5% this year, after hitting a record above $14,500 a ton last week. The gains have been underpinned by surging speculative interest in China, as well as a strong long-term outlook built on tight supply and rising demand for applications like electrical vehicles, renewable energy and data centers.
- Aluminum (Feb) prices can trade on upside path as it may move in range of 314-320.while Zinc (Feb) may move on volatile path as it may trade in range of 320-335.
ENERGY
- Crude oil (Feb) may trade on lower path as it can move in range of 5720-5840. Oil prices fell on Thursday after the U.S. and Iran agreed to hold talks in Oman on Friday, easing concerns of a potential military conflict between them that could disrupt supply from the key Middle East-producing region.
- Iran is open to discussing its nuclear programme, including uranium enrichment, with Western countries, while the U.S. also wants to include Iran’s ballistic missiles, its support for armed proxy groups around the Middle East and its treatment of its own people. Despite the talks, there are concerns U.S. President Donald Trumpwill still carry out his threats to strike Iran, the fourth-largest producer among the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, potentially risking a wider confrontation in the oil-rich region.
- Natural gas (Feb) may remain on mixed path as it can move in range of 290-320.
