BULLIONS

  • Bullions counter may trade on firm path as gold prices firmed on Tuesday, holding near a record peak hit in the previous session, as lingering U.S. tariff and inflation concerns boosted safe-haven demand, while focus was also on key jobs data due this week.
  • Overall gold (Apr) can move in range of 82800-83600 while silver (Mar) also can move in range of 93000 -95000.
  • U.S. President Donald Trump suspended tariffs on Mexico and Canada on Monday, agreeing to a 30-day pause in return for concessions on border and crime enforcement with the two countries, while levies on Chinese goods are due to start later in the day. The market perceives Trump’s tariff policies as inflationary.
  • Meanwhile, global bullion banks are flying gold into the United States from trading hubs catering to Asian consumers, including Dubai and Hong Kong, to capitalize on the unusually high premium that U.S. gold futures are enjoying over spot prices.

BASE METALS

  • In base metal counter, Copper prices can trade on firm path as it can move in range of 832-843. LME copper prices firmed on Tuesday, recovering from a four-week low touched in the previous session, after U.S. President Donald Trump delayed tariffs on Canada and Mexico for a month, easing concerns over a potential trade war.
  • Aluminum prices can trade on mixed path as it may move in range of 246-258.while lead may also move in range of 176-182.
  • Trump backed away from his threat to impose steep tariffs on Mexico and Canada for a month, but U.S. tariffs on China, the largest consumer of industrial metals, were still due to take effect within hours.
  • The dollar index fell 0.3% on Tuesday. A softer dollar makes greenback-priced commodities cheaper for holders of other currencies.
  • Meanwhile, data on Monday showed that China’s factory activity grew at a slower pace in January. The Caixin/S&P Global manufacturing PMI slipped to 50.1 in January from 50.5 the previous month.

ENERGY

  • Crude oil may trade on volatile path as it can move in range of 6350-6520. Oil prices retreated on Tuesday after U.S. President Donald Trump agreed to hold off imposing steep tariffs on Mexico and Canada, the two biggest foreign oil suppliers to the United States, for a month.
  • Both Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said they had agreed to bolster border enforcement efforts in response to Trump’s demand to crack down on immigration and drug smuggling.
  • Natural gas may trade on volatile path as it can move in range of 280-300.
  • That would pause for 30 days 25% tariffs, with a 10% tariff on energy imports from Canada, that were due to take effect on Tuesday.
