  • Trump has been exerting relentless pressure on the Fed to cut interest rates and publicly discussed firing Fed Chair Jerome Powell. U.S. rate futures are pricing in a 92% chance of a 25-basis-point Fed rate cut at the end of the two-day policy meeting on September 17, according to CME Group’s Fed Watch tool.

BASE METALS

  • In base metal counter, Copper prices can trade on mixed path as it can move in range of 897-908. London copper prices edged lower on Wednesday, giving up some of the gains from the previous session, although upbeat Chinese economic data and optimism over U.S. rate cuts helped limit the decline.
  • Aluminum prices can trade on upside path as it may move in range of 252-257.while Zinc may move on strong path as it may trade in range of 272-277.
  • Surveys of purchasing managers in China’s manufacturing sector showing expansion in August due to a rise in new orders indicate healthier demand prospects for industrial metals.

ENERGY

  • Crude oil may trade on upside path as it can move in range of 5700-5830. Oil prices were steady in Asian trading on Wednesday, holding on to sanctions-driven gains from the previous session as the market looked ahead to an OPEC+ meeting over the weekend.
  • Oil had settled up more than 1% in the previous trading session after the U.S. imposed new sanctions on a network of shipping companies and vessels led by an Iraqi-Kittitian businessman for smuggling Iranian oil disguised as Iraqi oil.
  • The market was waiting for the results of a meeting of eight members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and their allies on September 7.
