BULLIONS
- Bullions counter may trade on mixed path as yellow metal was steady on Tuesday as investors took a cautious stance ahead of the upcoming U.S. economic data that could provide insights into the Federal Reserve’s interest rate path.
- Overall gold can move in range of 76400- 77000 while silver also can move in range of 90000 -92000.
- Key U.S. data this week includes the job openings due later in the day, the ADP employment report on Wednesday, and the payrolls report on Friday.
- On Monday, Fed Governor Christopher Waller said with inflation still forecast to fall to 2% he is inclined “at present” to support another rate cut later this month. The comments led investors to boost expectations for a rate cut at the Fed’s Dec. 17-18 meeting to nearly 75%.
- Gold tends to thrive in a low-interest-rate environment and during periods of geopolitical turmoil.
BASE METALS
- In base metal counter, Copper prices can trade on mixed path as it can move in range of 803-815. London copper prices fell for a second straight session on Tuesday as a firmer U.S. dollar and as uncertainty over potential U.S. tariffs weighed on the market.
- Aluminium prices can trade on mixed path as it may move in range of 240-245.while lead may also move in range of 179-182.
- The U.S. currency was buoyant, making dollar-priced metals costlier for holders of other currencies. Markets are concerned about President-elect Donald Trump’s proposed import tariffs, which could harm global economic growth. His pledges might also disrupt the global metal demand-supply balance and potentially lead to price fluctuations.
- Elsewhere, the mood in China’s manufacturing sector has been depressed for months due to tumbling producer prices and dwindling orders.
ENERGY
- Crude oil may trade on volatile path as it can move in range of 5640-5800. Oil prices inched down amid mixed market signals on Tuesday, with traders awaiting the outcome of an OPEC+ meeting this week.
- Sources from the producer group say it will extend its latest round of output cuts until the end of the first quarter at its Dec. 5 meeting. OPEC+, which groups the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and allies such as Russia, has been aiming to unwind the cuts in the first quarter of 2025, but the surplus supply outlook has weighed on prices.
- Concerns the U.S. Federal Reserve will not cut rates at its December meeting has also been keeping a lid on oil prices, offsetting some positive signals from China where the purchasing manager index rose to a seven-month high in November.
- Natural gas may trade on upside path as it can move in range of 265-282.
