The March 2017 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8919.45, at a premium of 22.75 points compared with the Nifty's spot closing of 8896.70 in the cash market. The April 2017 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8956, at a premium of 59.30 points compared with the Nifty's spot closing.
Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment declined to Rs 2.41 lakh crore from Rs 9.58 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session on Thursday, 23 February 2017. The stock market was closed for a holiday on Friday, 24 February 2017 for Mahashivratri.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index lost 42.80 points or 0.48% to settle at 8,896.70, its lowest closing level since 20 February 2017.
Reliance Industries (RIL), Jindal Steel & Power (JSPL), Bharat Financial Inclusion (BFIL), Vedanta and Wockhardt were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. RIL March 2017 futures traded at 1240.55, at a premium compared with spot closing of 1237.55. JSPL March 2017 futures traded at 125.35, near spot closing of 124.80.
BFIL March 2017 futures traded at 855, at a premium compared with spot closing of 850. Vedanta March 2017 futures traded at 256.85, near spot closing of 255.25. Wockhardt March 2017 futures traded at 761, at a premium over spot closing of 757.
The March 2017 F&O contracts are set to expire on 30 March 2017. The April 2017 F&O contracts will expire on 27 April 2017.
